German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Falls to 1-1
Marquez (1-1) took the loss against the Braves on Tuesday, giving up five earned runs on seven hits over five innings while striking out two and walking none in Colorado's 7-1 defeat.
Marquez posted two strong outings to start the season, but he didn't have it in this defeat, as he was tagged for four of his five earned runs in the fourth inning to leave him with an ugly final line. He's still got a solid 3.00 ERA through 18 innings, but the Coors Field effect could prevent Marquez from posting ace-level ratios this season despite his filthy stuff and ability to rack up high strikeout totals.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Struggles through four innings
Strasburg gave up six runs on six hits and four walks across four innings during Tuesday's win over the Phillies. He recorded three strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.
Strasburg ran into trouble during the third inning as he gave up a leadoff homer to Maikel Franco and then issued two walks before serving up a three-run shot to Bryce Harper. The 30-year-old allowed two runs on two hits and two walks the following inning, leading to his early exit. Strasburg will look for a rebound effort next Tuesday against the Giants.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Takes loss Tuesday
Stripling (0-1) got the loss against the Cardinals on Tuesday, giving up four earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking three as the Dodgers fell 4-0.
It wasn't the sharpest of efforts for the right-hander, who had given up three earned runs over 11.2 innings in his first two starts, but allowed four to cross the plate in this one. Stripling still has a respectable 3.78 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 16.2 innings and should hang onto his spot in the rotation for the foreseeable future.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Set for return
Kershaw (shoulder) went six innings in his rehab start with Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on five hits over six innings while striking out six and walking none, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Kershaw gave up a couple of runs on a pair of sixth-inning solo shots but he otherwise looked sharp in his second rehab start following his first with Triple-A Oklahoma City last week. He tossed 81 pitches, 50 of them for strikes, hitting the target the Dodgers set for him. The left-hander looks to have come through both his rehab outings healthy and, per Castillo, is expected to rejoin the big-league rotation and make his season debut either Sunday against the Brewers or Monday against the Reds.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Takes another loss
Urena (0-3) took the loss against the Reds on Tuesday by giving up four runs on eight hits over five innings. He walked three and recorded four strikeouts.
Urena's third start of the season looked eerily similar to his first two starts as he now owns a 9.22 ERA, 2.12 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB across 13.2 innings. The lone saving grace Tuesday is that the 27-year-old was out of the game when the Reds exploded for 10 runs during the sixth and seventh innings. Urena lines up for a tough matchup Sunday against the Phillies.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Dominates in first win
Castillo (1-1) earned the win against the Marlins on Tuesday by giving up only two hits over seven shutout innings. He struck out eight and issued one walk.
The Reds exploded for 14 runs in Tuesday's victory, but Castillo needed minimal run support as he allowed only a single runner to reach second base. The 26-year-old is putting up ace-like numbers to begin the season with only two runs and five hits allowed across 19.2 innings to go along with a 25:8 K:BB. Castillo lines up for a tougher test on the road Monday against the Dodgers.

Corey Black SP | CHC
Cubs' Corey Black: Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Black announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he underwent Tommy John surgery.
Black has barely pitched since 2016 as this is the third time he's undergone Tommy John surgery. The 27-year-old will be sidelined for the entire 2019 season and likely a good chunk of 2020.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Groin feeling better already
Ryu (groin) is feeling better Tuesday and will throw a bullpen session soon, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Regardless of how he feels or how the bullpen session goes, Ryu will miss at least his next start, as he was placed on the injured list earlier in the day Tuesday. His return timeline should become clearer following the bullpen session.
-
Julio Urias SP | LAD
Dodgers' Julio Urias: Still needed in rotation
Urias is expected to remain in the rotation for two more starts with Hyun-Jin Ryu on the injured list due to a groin strain, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Urias had been originally expected to make just one more start Friday against the Brewers, with Clayton Kershaw nearing a return from his shoulder injury. Urias will now be needed to take Ryu's spot in the rotation for at least one more turn once Kershaw returns, though Ryu's absence doesn't seem likely to be a long one, so Urias could head to the bullpen after that start.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Officially hits injured list
Ryu (groin) was placed on the injured list as expected Tuesday.
The move was expected after Ryu strained his groin Monday against the Cardinals. Reliever JT Chargois was called up to take his place on the roster, though it remains unclear who will take Ryu's place in the rotation.
