Jameson Taillon SP | TOR
Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Earns second victory
Taillon (2-3) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks across 6.1 innings in a victory against the Rangers on Wednesday.
He allowed his seventh unearned run in the last five starts and gave up two homers for the first time in a start this year, but Taillon earned a much-needed victory. Taillon has been a bit disappointing to open the year, going 2-3 with a 4.10 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 37.1 innings through seven starts. However, his 1.13 WHIP and .231 batting average against are probably better indicators of how he's thrown the ball this year. He is scheduled to face the Rangers again in his next start at home next week.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Lands on restricted list
Webb (suspension) was placed on the restricted list Wednesday.
This comes after Webb was handed an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug Wednesday. The suspension will likely keep the right-hander out until late July, while his placement on the restricted list frees up a spot on the team's 40-man roster for the addition of catcher Stephen Vogt. Prior to getting suspended, Webb -- one of the Giants' better pitching prospects -- compiled a 2.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB through five starts (27 innings) with Double-A Richmond.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Contract selected for debut
Quantrill's contract was officially selected by the Padres on Wednesday ahead of his major-league debut against the Braves.
It's not clear how many turns in the rotation Quantrill is expected to make, as his addition gives the Padres a six-man rotation. The 24-year-old has a modest 4.02 ERA in 11 career starts for Triple-A El Paso, with a low 5.3 percent walk rate offsetting an unimpressive 18.7 percent strikeout rate.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Strikes out seven in no-decision
Hamels gave up two runs on six hits and three walks over 5.1 innings but didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-5 win over the Mariners. He struck out seven in the outing.
After posting a 23:3 K:BB in his first four turns, Hamels has battled some control issues his last two times out, issuing nine walks. On a positive note, Hamels has at least done a decent job of keeping the ball in the yard a year after serving up a career-high 29 homers. In a season in which home runs are piling up at a record-setting pace, Hamels' 0.98 HR/9 rate is actually much better than the league average (1.32 entering play Wednesday).

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Moves to 3-0
Buehler (3-0) captured the win in Tuesday's 10-3 triumph over the Giants while striking out six over 5.1 innings. He gave up three runs on six hits and one walk.
Buehler's record remains unblemished this season, but it's largely been a result of strong run support rather than the right-hander's own dominance. A 3.38 FIP (4.41 xFIP) suggests he's been far better than his 5.22 ERA would indicate, but even after forecasting some improvement on that front in future outings, Buehler may struggle to meet draft-day expectations. His 12.5 K-BB% is well behind the 21.1 K-BB% mark he posted in 2018, a disappointing development for investors who were hoping he might take another leap forward in his age-24 campaign.

J.T. Brubaker RP | SF
Pirates' JT Brubaker: Shut down for 10 days
Brubaker (forearm) will refrain from throwing for at least 10 days, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Brubaker landed on the minor-league injured list over the weekend due to a right forearm strain. A timetable for his return likely won't come into focus until the right-hander is cleared to resume throwing. Prior to landing on the shelf, Brubaker compiled a 2.57 ERA and 20:4 K:BB in 21 frames for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Dealt 80-game suspension
Webb received an 80-game suspension Wednesday after testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, MLBPipeline.com reports.
One of the better pitching prospects in the Giants' system, Webb was enjoying a strong season for Double-A Richmond, posting a 2.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB in 27 innings across his first five starts. The suspension will keep him sidelined until late July, robbing him of some crucial development time but otherwise doing little to dramatically alter his long-term outlook. Assuming he's able to pick up where he left off once eligible to rejoin Richmond, Webb might have a shot at cracking the big-league rotation at some point in 2020.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Tosses another sim game
Walker (elbow) threw a 39-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Richard Morin of the Arizona Republic reports.
The right-hander came out of the session healthy but was not pleased with his command. "I was just a little erratic, a little wild," Walker said. "A lot of walks, getting behind in counts. Just not where I expect myself to be, but I'm also being a little hard on myself. It'll get better as we go." Walker's fastball was estimated to be in the low 90s, which he feels will improve as he builds arm strength. A midsummer return is still the expectation.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Dominates Yankees for fifth win
Greinke (5-1) picked up the win in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over the Yankees, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 7.2 innings while striking out seven.
The right-hander has now reeled off six straight quality starts after getting roughed up by the Dodgers on Opening Day, with Tuesday's effort giving him his fourth straight win. Greinke will take a 3.27 ERA and scintillating 46:8 K:BB through 44 innings into his next outing, which could come either Sunday in Colorado or Monday in Tampa Bay depending on whether the D-backs go with four starters or five in the short term following Zack Godley's demotion to the bullpen.

Jordan Lyles RP | KC
Pirates' Jordan Lyles: Walks four in no-decision
Lyles allowed two runs on three hits with four walks and five strikeouts across four innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Tuesday.
The right-hander didn't necessarily pitch poorly, but his four walks elevated his pitch count to 96 through four innings. That led to an early exit and one of the Rangers' two runs. Still, Lyles has been a pleasant surprise this season. He is 2-1 with a 2.42 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 26 strikeouts in 26 innings, which are great numbers for a No. 5 starter. He should get another crack at the Rangers in his next start Tuesday at home.
