  • Robbie Ray SP | SD

Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Fans six in win

Ray (3-1) tossed five innings Monday, yielding two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while earning the victory over Pittsburgh. He struck out six batters.

After giving up a pair of runs in the first frame, Ray settled in and kept the Pirates under control while his offense gave him plenty of support. It was his fourth straight outing with at least six strikeouts despite him not finishing the sixth inning in any of those starts. The 27-year-old will carry a 3.14 ERA into Sunday's home matchup against the Giants.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: No-decision against Phillies

Peralta didn't factor into the decision against the Phillies on Monday, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits over four innings, striking out five, and walking none as the Brewers fell 7-4.

Peralta only conceded one earned run, but wasn't efficient, as he needed 80 pitches to get through four frames before exiting the contest. The right-hander tossed an eight-inning, 11-strikeout gem against the Reds on April 3, but he's struggled on the whole so far this season, as he's sporting a 6.16 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP over 30.2 innings.

  • Aaron Nola SP | PHI

Phillies' Aaron Nola: Labors in no-decision

Nola lasted just three innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Monday, giving up three earned runs on five hits, striking out three, and walking three as the Phillies eventually prevailed 7-4.

Nola struggled with his command in this outing, issuing three free passes and needing 84 pitches to get through three frames before being forced from the game. He had been on a nice run coming into this contest, holding opponents to just one earned run in each of his last three starts, but this setback leaves him with a 4.86 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP through 46.1 innings. Those numbers are a far cry from the dominant campaign he put together last season, when he emerged as a Cy Young candidate with a 2.37 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 224 strikeouts in 212.1 innings.

  • Pirates' Jameson Taillon: Bumped to 60-day IL

Taillon (elbow) was shifted to the 60-day injured list Monday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The right-hander was placed on the 60-day injured list to make room for Jake Elmore on the 40-man roster. Taillon won't be eligible to return until the beginning of July following this latest move.

  • Steven Matz RP | TB

Mets' Steven Matz: Eyeing weekend return

The Mets are hopeful Matz (forearm) will be ready to return from the 10-day injured list to make a start in Miami during the upcoming weekend, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Matz had previously been eyeing Thursday's game against the Nationals for his return from the IL, but he'll get some additional time to heal up after the Mets' series finale Sunday with the Marlins was postponed due to inclement weather in New York. The cancellation will allow the team to push each member of the rotation back two days in the schedule, setting Matz up for a potential return in South Florida. Matz, who is dealing with a nerve issue in his left forearm, completed a bullpen session over the weekend without any reported problems.

  • Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Next start coming Tuesday

Syndergaard is scheduled to make his next start on the road Tuesday against the Nationals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Syndergaard had been in line to start Sunday in the Mets' series finale with the Marlins, but that never materialized after the contest was postponed due to inclement weather. The Mets will push everyone in their rotation back two days after the cancellation, lining Syndergaard up for a two-start week. His second turn is expected to come next Sunday in Miami.

  • Cole Irvin RP | LAD

Phillies' Cole Irvin: Earns another start

Irvin will make his second career start Friday against the Rockies, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Irvin looked quite good in his MLB debut, scattering five hits over seven innings and allowing just one run Sunday against the Royals. He'll get at least one more chance, though Vince Velasquez isn't supposed to miss much more time with his forearm injury and Nick Pivetta is turning things around with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, so he may have to pitch quite well to stick around in the rotation past Friday's outing.

  • Kyle Wright SP | CHC

Braves' Kyle Wright: Sent back to minors

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Wright spent five days on the big-league roster but did not get into a game. He could continue to bounce between Atlanta and Gwinnett for much of the season until a regular role opens up at the big-league level.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Submits best start of season in loss

Buehler struck out seven over seven scoreless frames but came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Nationals. He scattered four hits and one walk over the 97-pitch outing.

Buehler's delayed start to spring training may have negatively impacted him earlier in the regular season, but the young righty appears to have since rediscovered the ace-like form he flashed for much of 2018. He's posted a 2.59 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB in 31.1 innings over his last five starts, with Saturday's outing representing his best one yet. Buehler exited the contest with a 2-0 lead, but an implosion from the Los Angeles bullpen prevented him from notching his fifth win. He'll look to keep his perfect record intact when he takes on the Reds in Cincinnati next weekend.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Set for knee exam

Anderson hasn't pitched at Triple-A Albuquerque since being demoted May 4 and will head to Chicago this week to receive a medical opinion on his injured left knee, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Before getting sent to the minors, Anderson spent two weeks on the injured list after experiencing inflammation in his left knee. Though Anderson went on to make three underwhelming starts with the Rockies, it appears the knee has still been a source of discomfort for the lefty. Anderson, who previously required arthroscopic surgery on the knee in 2017, will have a specialist assess his condition and determine the best treatment method for the persistent injury.
