Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Fans eight in quality start
Flaherty (4-4) took the loss Tuesday as the Cardinals were downed 6-0 by the Marlins, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out eight.
It was a strong effort, but the right-hander got no help from his offense -- his own ground-rule double in the third inning was the only extra-base hit St. Louis could manage off Jordan Yamamoto. Flaherty now has six quality starts on the year, and he'll take a 4.24 ERA and 89:26 K:BB through 80.2 innings into his next outing Tuesday, at home against the A's.

Merrill Kelly SP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Winning streak snapped
Kelly (7-7) allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out five over six innings to pick up the loss against the Rockies on Tuesday.
Kelly, whose three-game winning streak was snapped, kept the Diamondbacks in the game before it got away from him in a four-run sixth inning. He allowed a pair of runs in the first, then stymied the Rockies until they roughed him up in his final frame. Meanwhile, the offense, which has been productive on the road, couldn't take advantage of opportunities at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks had two runners on base in three of the first four innings but failed to produce, ultimately leaving 10 men on base and going 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Next up for Kelly is a start at home against San Francisco on Sunday.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Cruises in vintage performance
Kershaw (7-1) pitched seven scoreless innings against San Francisco on Tuesday to earn the win, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out six.
In classic Kershaw fashion, the left-hander threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes and allowed only five hitters to reach base. In doing so, he picked up his 10th quality start in 11 appearances this season and improved his career record against the Giants to 23-11. Despite starting the season on the IL with an injured shoulder, Kershaw has once again posted All-Star quality numbers, complementing his 7-1 record with a 2.85 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 73:14 K:BB in 79 innings. He'll have another home start when he faces the Rockies on Sunday.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Earns fourth save
Lorenzen retired the Astros in order without a strikeout to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-3 victory.
Closer Raisel Iglesias was used in the eighth inning with the tying run on first base for the second straight game, affording Lorenzen another opportunity to notch a save. The 27-year-old has a 3.05 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 38:10 K:BB through 38.1 innings this season, and is 4-for-5 in save chances while also recording four holds. Lorenzen appears to be the go-to guy for the ninth inning if Iglesias is utilized earlier to escape from a jam.

Anthony DeSclafani RP | ARI
Reds' Anthony DeSclafani: Notches second straight win
DeSclafani (4-3) earned the win Tuesday at Houston with one run allowed on six hits over 5.1 innings. He struck out four and walked one.
DeSclafani kept the Astros off the board until the sixth inning when he gave up back-to-back doubles, which spelled the end of his evening. The 29-year-old hasn't completed six frames since early May but has still pitched well lately with at least five innings and one run allowed in each of his last three starts. DeSclafani will look to keep that streak going Sunday at Milwaukee.

Mitch Keller SP | PIT
Pirates' Mitch Keller: Yields four runs in no-decision
Keller allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks across five innings in a no-decision against the Tigers on Tuesday.
He pitched much better, but the Pirates' defense really hurt Keller in this one. The Pirates made three errors in the first four innings, including two in the fourth, which led to two unearned runs. Fortunately, Pittsburgh came back to tie the game in the seventh, so Keller avoided the loss. Still, he pitched so poorly in his first two outings that he is 0-1 with a 10.50 ERA, 2.25 WHIP, .389 batting average against and 15 strikeouts in 12 innings across three starts to begin his major-league career. In all likelihood, Keller will return to the minors this week with Trevor Williams (side) and Jordan Lyles (hamstring) both expected back soon.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Cubs' Cole Hamels: Reaches 2,500 career strikeouts
Hamels allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven innings Tuesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
Hamels reached the milestone mark of 2,500 strikeouts for his career after whiffing Ivan Nova to begin the third frame. He had a rocky first inning, in which he allowed two hits and a walk to load the bases before escaping on an inning-ending double play. However, he was strong thereafter, continuing his recent stretch of working deep into games. Across his last four starts, he's completed 29 innings and racked up 31 punchouts, while allowing just one earned run. He'll look to keep things going in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday against the Mets.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Next start confirmed
Wacha has been confirmed as the starter for Friday's game against the Angels, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
The Cardinals have set their rotation for the remainder of the week, with Daniel Ponce de Leon making a spot start Wednesday and Adam Wainwright (hamstring) now confirmed to come off the injured list for Thursday's turn. That sets up Wacha to try and rebound from a disastrous performance against the Mets in his most recent start while facing a potent Angels squad, one that will feature Albert Pujols in his return to Busch Stadium.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Denied complete game
DeGrom (4-6) allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out 10 across 8.1 innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Braves.
DeGrom took a shutout into the ninth inning, but was pulled after allowing back-to-back homers to Freddie Freeman and Josh Donaldson. Still, it was a dominant performance as he put together two separate stretches of retiring 10 Braves hitters in a row. He now has a 3.26 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 112 strikeouts across 91 innings for the season. He'll draw a tough matchup at the Cubs in his next start, currently scheduled for Sunday.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Hit hard by Mets
Teheran (5-5) allowed six earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three across four innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Mets.
Teheran got through the first two innings without allowing a run but allowed six baserunners and four earned runs in the third inning. The trouble continued in the fourth frame when he surrendered a two-run homer to Pete Alonso, though he was able to close out the inning. Teheran hadn't allowed multiple earned runs in any of his last eight starts entering Tuesday's contest, so for now, this disappointing effort should be considered just an isolated poor start. He now has a 3.40 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 87.1 innings and will look to bounce back in his next start in a tough matchup at the Cubs.
