Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Hit hard in loss
Paddack (7-7) was charged with the loss against the Red Sox on Friday after lasting just 2.1 innings while allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk.
Paddack was lifted after tossing a career-low 2.1 innings as the Red Sox rattled off six runs, matching another career worst. It was the first time all season that he failed to record any strikeouts. The right-hander allowed three runs in the first inning on a home run to J.D. Martinez, then another three in the second largely due to back-to-back doubles by Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts. Following the tough loss, Paddack has a 3.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 121:27 K:BB on the season. The 23-year-old heads to the Bay Area for a road contest with the Giants on Thursday.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Fans 13 in no-decision
DeGrom yielded one run on four hits and a walk while striking out 13 over seven innings Friday night against the Braves.
The right-hander allowed his lone run in the sixth inning on a single to center, but he got it right back with a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning -- his second homer of the year and the third of his career. At one point, deGrom fanned eight batters in a row, tying his career-best streak. The 31-year-old continues to put together yet another stellar season, as he now sports a 2.56 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a 207:39 K:BB over 162 innings.

Jack Flaherty SP | DET
Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Whiffs nine in win
Flaherty (8-6) earned the win Friday after holding the Rockies scoreless with nine strikeouts over six innings. He allowed three hits and one walk.
The right-hander continued his dominance with yet another brilliant performance. Now on a four-game winning streak, Flaherty has allowed just five runs over his last nine starts (56.1 innings) with a 0.80 ERA and 70 strikeouts in that span. Better yet, the 23-year-old has only surrendered one run over his last 38 frames. On the season, Flaherty owns a 3.32 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 171:46 K:BB. He'll look to keep rolling when he faces Milwaulkee on the road Wednesday.

Vince Velasquez RP | KC
Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Lit up by Miami
Velasquez allowed seven runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two over 2.1 innings Friday night against the Marlins. He didn't factor into the decision.
Velasquez cruised through the first two innings unscathed, but he surrendered all seven of his runs in the third inning before getting yanked from the ballgame. Heading into Friday's game, he hadn't given up more than three runs in five straight outings, so his most recent performance was certainly uncharacteristic. Valasquez's ERA jumped from 4.35 to 4.93 after the contest (91.1 innings).

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Confirmed as Monday's starter
May will start Monday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
As anticipated, May will toe the rubber during Los Angeles' upcoming road trip after making a relief appearance Sunday in Atlanta in which he surrendered four runs over two innings of work. May owns a 4.26 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 15 punchouts over 19 innings this season in the majors.

Brandon Woodruff SP | MIL
Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Making progress in throwing program
Woodruff (oblique) threw from 120 feet Friday afternoon, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Woodruff hasn't worked off a mound yet, but it's good to see that he's making progress in his throwing program. After landing on the injured list with a left oblique strain near the end of July, he remains on track to return in mid-September.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Expects to be activated Sunday
Ray (back) expects to come off the injured list and start Sunday against the Brewers, Russell Dorsey of MLB.com reports.
Ray threw a bullpen session Friday without issue, and that was apparently all he and the Diamondbacks needed to see before deeming him ready to return to action. Barring any setbacks, Ray will occupy a spot in Arizona's rotation the rest of the way as the team tries to earn a wild-card berth.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Could return as closer
Urena (back) could be used as the Marlins's closer when he comes off the injured list in September, Craig Mish of FNTSY Sports Radio reports.
The team is not looking at him to close beyond this season, but they think the ninth inning is a way for Urena to know exactly when to prepare to pitch upon his return, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports. The last time a Marlin recorded a save was when Sergio Romo saved a game on July 24, so Urena probably won't get too many opportunities over the final month if he does assume the role. However, if he looks good, he could enter 2020 as the closer in Miami rather than moving back into the rotation, so this has ramifications in redraft and dynasty leagues. As a starter he's lacked the strikeout punch typically found in closers, but perhaps if he uses his 96-mph sinker and 86-mph slider exclusively, he could have better results.
