  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Fans 14 in no-decision

DeGrom gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 14 in seven innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Wednesday.

DeGrom put the Mets in a good position to win, but reliever Justin Wilson allowed three runs to tie the game. That forced deGrom to settle for his fourth no-decision in six starts. The right-hander has a stellar 1.80 ERA and 0.83 WHIP with a 49:7 K:BB across 35 innings this year. He currently lines up to face the Orioles on Tuesday, but it's possible deGrom works on short rest to start one of Sunday's games in a doubleheader versus the Yankees.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Giants' Kevin Gausman: Wednesday's start postponed

Gausman won't make his scheduled start Wednesday against the Dodgers as the teams elected to postpone the game in protest of the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

It's the third MLB game of the night to be postponed, as the Mariners and Padres also decided to follow suit from the Brewers and Reds decision. The Giants and Dodgers could make up the contest via a doubleheader Thursday, but no schedule has been announce. Gausman seems likely to pitch Thursday, regardless.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Braves' Max Fried: Earns fifth win

Fried (5-0) allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out five across six innings to earn the win in the second game of Atlanta's doubleheader Wednesday against the Yankees.

Fried allowed only one hit through three innings and held the Yankees' lineup in check for nearly the entirety of the outing. The only trouble he ran into came in the fifth frame, when he allowed a a single and double to the first two batters he faced. The performance was a continuation of Fried's dominance to this point in the season, as he's allowed no more than two earned runs in any start and has allowed zero or one earned run in six of his seven outings. He'll look to keep that going in his next turn through the rotation, currently projected to come Tuesday at Boston.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Wednesday's game postponed

Kershaw won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Giants as the teams agreed to postpone the game in protest of the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

It's the third MLB game of the night to be postponed in protest, with the Brewers and Reds doing so first and the Mariners and Padres following suit. It's unclear when the game will be made up, but the Dodgers and Giants could opt for a doubleheader Thursday. Regardless, Kershaw is likely to be on the mound the next time the Dodgers take the field.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Wednesday's game not being played

Houser won't start as scheduled Wednesday against the Reds as the teams elected not to play in protest of the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.

According to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Thursday, with Houser receiving the starting nod in the matinee.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Reds' Sonny Gray: Start vs. Brewers postponed

Gray's scheduled start vs. the Brewers on Wednesday was postponed, Jared Diamond of The Wall Street Journal reports.

Both teams agreed to postpone Wednesday's game in protest of a police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI. According to C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, the game will be made up via a doubleheader Thursday, with Gray taking the ball for Game 1.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Merrill Kelly: Unlikely to return this season

General manager Mike Hazen said Kelly (shoulder) probably won't return this season, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Kelly underwent a procedure to remove a blood clot from his right shoulder earlier in the week, and it sounds like the right-hander is expected to miss the remainder of the season as a result. This is a tough blow for Kelly, who compiled a 2.59 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across five appearances (31.1 innings) before landing on the shelf. Taylor Clarke started in place of Kelly on Monday and could continue to do so.

  • David Peterson SP | CHC

    Mets' David Peterson: Completes bullpen

Peterson (shoulder) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Wednesday's throwing session marks Peterson's second bullpen in three days. The right-hander has been sidelined since Aug. 16 with a shoulder issue, but manager Luis Rojas noted he's a candidate to rejoin the rotation in the near future.

  • Mets' Michael Wacha: Fires another bullpen

Wacha (shoulder) threw another bullpen session Wednesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Wacha, who has been sidelined since Aug. 9 with shoulder inflammation, has now thrown two bullpens in three days. With the Mets set to play a pair of doubleheaders this weekend, the hope is that Wacha will be ready to rejoin the rotation in the coming days.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Sim game on tap

Musgrove (triceps) will throw a simulated game at the alternate site later this week, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

He will throw two simulated innings at some point in the next couple days in Altoona. This will mark another important checkpoint for Musgrove, who had already been throwing bullpen sessions. It is unclear when he will return to the rotation, but considering he will only throw a couple simulated innings, it seems likely he will throw at least one more simulated game before returning to the big-league rotation.
