Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Finding niche in long relief
Lorenzen has found a niche in long relief and occasional spot starts, including a 3.1-inning outing Friday against the Twins in which he earned the win. He finished the regular season with mediocre ratios (4.28 ERA, 1.40 WHIP), though most of the damage came in the first few weeks of the campaign.
He'll continue in a relief role in the first round of the playoffs against the Braves, as the Reds will be able to run out their top three starters in Trevor Bauer, Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray for the three-game series.

J.T. Brubaker RP | SF
Pirates' JT Brubaker: Struggles in final start
Brubaker gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus Cleveland on Sunday.
Brubaker wasn't great in his final start of 2020, getting into trouble in both the fifth and sixth innings before Geoff Hartlieb relieved him. The 26-year-old Brubaker ends the campaign with a 4.94 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 48 strikeouts across 47.1 innings.

Austin Gomber SP | TEX
Cardinals' Austin Gomber: Solid over four innings
Gomber allowed a run on one hit and two walks and struck out three over four innings in a no-decision versus the Brewers on Sunday.
Gomber turned in another solid start, although he needed 75 pitches (47 strikes) to get through his four innings. The southpaw's performance helped the Cardinals earn a postseason berth. Gomber ends the regular season with a 1.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 27 strikeouts over 29 innings across 14 appearances (four starts). If he makes the playoff roster, he'll most likely work as a reliever capable of handling multi-inning assignments.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Works four innings in win
May (3-1) pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out five to earn the win Sunday over the Angels.
May followed opener Victor Gonzalez in the regular-season finale. May threw 34-of-55 pitches for strikes and effectively quieted the Angels' bats. The 23-year-old May pitched to a 2.57 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 44:16 K:BB across 56 innings in 12 appearances (10 starts) this season. It's not clear if the right-hander will work as a starter or a reliever in the postseason.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Out for postseason
Urena fractured his right forearm during Sunday's regular-season finale against the Yankees and will miss the entire postseason, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
Urena was struck by a comebacker in the third inning Sunday, and his injury will force him out until at least spring training. The right-hander finishes the season with a 5.40 ERA and 15:13 K:BB over 23.1 innings.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Exits Sunday's start
Urena was struck in the right hand by a comebacker and was removed from Sunday's game against the Yankees, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
The 29-year-old delivered 2.1 scoreless innings before being forced to exit after being hit on his throwing hand by the liner. The severity of the injury remains unclear, putting Urena's availability for the postseason in jeopardy.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Braves' Cole Hamels: Shuttles to 45-day IL
The Braves transferred Hamels (shoulder) to the 45-day injured list Sunday.
After experiencing yet another setback with his left shoulder in his Braves debut Sept. 16, Hamels was already expected to be shut down for the season. The move to the 45-day IL officially confirms as much, while simultaneously clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for third baseman Pablo Sandoval. The 36-year-old southpaw will become a free agent this winter and may have to settle for a one-year deal with limited guarantees if he wants to keep his career going.

Dustin May SP | MIL
Dodgers' Dustin May: Slated for brief appearance
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he expects May to pitch around 2-to-3 innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's game against the Angels, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
May is still viewed as the Dodgers' primary pitcher behind opener Victor Gonzalez, but expect Roberts to treat the regular-season finale as a bullpen game, which will hurt May's chances of factoring into the decision. Roberts hasn't decided on May's role heading into the postseason, as the 23-year-old could serve as the third or fourth man in the rotation or work as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen.

Chris Paddack RP | TEX
Padres' Chris Paddack: Will make wild-card roster
According to Padres manager Jayce Tingler, Paddack will "absolutely" be on the roster for the upcoming wild-card series, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
There had been some doubt about Paddack's inclusion on the roster given the brevity of the three-game series and the right-hander's disappointing performance this season. However, the uncertain availability of starters Mike Clevinger (elbow) and Dinelson Lamet (biceps) could force Paddack into a larger role than previously anticipated. If he isn't needed in a starting role, Paddack could also come out of the bullpen, though he has yet to do so in his career, compared to 38 major-league starts.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Not starting regular-season finale
Quintana is expected to be available in relief Sunday against the White Sox with Adbert Alzolay receiving the starting nod, Tim Stebbins of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Quintana returned from a lat injury to make a start Tuesday in the Cubs' loss to the Pirates, covering two innings and giving up a run on two hits. Alzolay served as the primary pitcher behind Quintana in that outing, but the two pitchers could end up flip-flopping roles in the regular-season finale. The Cubs are expected to use a four-man rotation of Yu Darvish, Kyle Hendricks, Jon Lester and Alec Mills in the postseason, so Quintana will likely have to settle for a relief role if manager David Ross elects to include him on the playoff roster.
