Oviedo held the Brewers scoreless over 4.2 innings of relief in the Cardinals' 9-3 loss Sunday. He worked around two hits and two walks and struck out four over the 65-pitch appearance.

The outcome was already decided when Oviedo entered the contest midway through the second inning, as starter Daniel Ponce de Leon had already put St. Louis in a 7-0 hole. Oviedo at least did his part to make the final score more respectable, and he may have put himself ahead of Ponce de Leon in the rotation pecking order after Sunday's performance. The 23-year-old may have to wait a bit before getting a look in the rotation, however; the Cardinals won't require a fifth starter until April 20, and Kwang Hyun Kim (back) appears on track to return from the injured list before then.

Smyly allowed five runs on five hits while striking out three over five innings but did not factor in the decision during Sunday's 7-6 loss to the Phillies.

Smyly had a solid start to the game, as he gave up one hit through the first three innings, but fell apart in the fourth when he allowed two homers that amounted to four runs and a 5-3 lead for the Phillies. He did only have one bad inning but still wasn't nearly as sharp as he was in his first outing, as he managed just three strikeouts and continued to have some trouble with the long ball. He'll take a 5.73 ERA into his next start Friday against the Cubs, as he'll look to pick up his first win of the season.

Kershaw (2-1) allowed five hits and struck out six as he held the Nationals scoreless over six innings in Sunday's 3-0 win.

Kershaw cruised through six innings of work, as Trea Turner and Starlin Castro combined for all five hits against him. All six of his strikeouts came via either the slider or curveball and no player advanced beyond second base while he was in the game. The 33-year-old southpaw has been masterful in his last two outings as he's combined to give up one run on nine hits while striking out 14 batters and not issuing a single walk through 13 innings. Kershaw is set up for a one-start week as he'll go to battle against Yu Darvish and the Padres on Saturday.

Williams (1-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three in 3.1 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday.

Williams was quite sharp in his Cubs debut Monday, but he was unable to find the same success against his former team Sunday. The right-hander allowed baserunners in every inning and was unable to get much support from the Cubs' faltering offense. Through his first two starts with Chicago, Williams has posted a 6.75 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 9.1 innings. Williams lines up to make his next start at home against Atlanta on Saturday.

Brubaker (1-0) allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out four in 5.1 innings to earn the win against the Cubs on Sunday.

Brubaker remained sharp in his second outing of 2021 and got plenty of offensive support from the Pirates. The right-hander has posted a 1.93 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 10 strikeouts in 9.1 innings to begin the season. Brubaker lines up to make his next start on the road against Milwaukee on Friday.

Marquez (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over 5.2 innings of work in a loss to the Giants on Sunday.

The righty was one out away from recording a quality start but failed to escape the sixth inning. The 26-year-old threw only 60 of his 97 pitches for strikes, and his final earned run came on a homer by Brandon Belt in the sixth. Marquez is still looking to find his groove this season, and his next opportunity to take the rubber will be Saturday against the Mets.

DeSclafani (1-0) was sharp as he kept the Rockies scoreless on Sunday. He allowed three hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings in the win over the Rockies.

The righty put together another strong performance, fanning eight and walking only one. The 30-year-old threw 64 of his 94 pitches for strikes and has allowed only one run in 11 innings of work. Desclafani is scheduled for his next start Saturday against the Marlins.

Stroman allowed one hit and recorded one out before Sunday's game against the Marlins was suspended due to inclement weather, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It's a game that probably never should have started, as the teams were called off the field due to rain after only nine pitches. Stroman's next turn through the rotation tentatively lines up for Friday, but his next outing could be pushed up given the brevity of Sunday's start.

Gonsolin (shoulder) didn't throw a bullpen session Sunday since he's still experiencing soreness, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

The 26-year-old is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Sunday, but manager Dave Roberts said the right-hander is "a ways away" from being activated. Gonsolin landed on the injured list April 4 with right shoulder inflammation and has yet to make his season debut.

Ynoa is scheduled to start Monday's series opener with the Marlins, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Ynoa will surprisingly get the nod over No. 1 starter Max Fried for the series opener, even though both pitchers are on similar rest schedules after having each pitched one half of the April 7 doubleheader against the Nationals. Atlanta may just have wanted to build in an extra day of rest for Fried after he struggled in that outing while also picking up a lower right leg injury, whereas Ynoa struck out five over five shutout innings in his start against Washington. Ynoa now tentatively lines up for two starts during the upcoming week, as he'll likely get the ball Saturday in Chicago against the Cubs following Monday's turn.
