Houser (8-6) fired a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits while striking out seven to earn the win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Houser had the best start of his career Saturday, firing the first complete-game shutout of his career. In addition, he didn't allow any walks for just the third time this season. The 28-year-old has a 3.41 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 93 strikeouts in 121.1 innings. His next start is projected for Saturday at Cleveland.

Hendricks allowed six runs on five hits and three walks with one strikeout in 4.1 innings versus Pittsburgh on Saturday. He did not factor in the decision.

The right-hander looked destined for a loss until the Cubs made a three-run rally for the walkoff win in the ninth inning. Hendricks has still struggled mightily lately, allowing four or more runs in four of his last five starts. He's seen his ERA inflate to 4.65 with a 1.36 WHIP and 118:38 K:BB across 160.2 innings overall. The 31-year-old could have trouble snapping his skid during next weekend's three-game series versus San Francisco.

Ashby covered 4.1 innings out of the bullpen in Friday's 15-4 loss to the Cardinals, giving up two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out four.

Even though Brett Anderson (shoulder) was moved to the injured list Thursday, Ashby doesn't look like he'll receive the chance to stick in the rotation as a sixth starter, at least for the upcoming week. Because he was needed to eat innings in long relief Friday after Freddy Peralta's short start, Ashby is out of the mix to fill Anderson's next turn through the rotation, which was set to come Monday versus the Phillies.

Brubaker left Saturday's game against the Cubs with right shoulder discomfort, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Brubaker returned from the injured list Saturday after me missed time with a thumb injury, and it's not yet clear whether his shoulder issue will force him to miss additional time. He gave up three runs in three innings prior to his departure and will presumably be monitored in the coming days.

Feltner will be called up from Double-A Hartford on Sunday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

A fourth-round pick by the Rockies in 2018, Feltner posted stellar numbers in the minors this year to earn his first call-up. After going 3-1 with a 2.17 ERA with High-A Spokane to begin the season, Feltner got the bump up and hardly missed a beat with a 2.85 ERA in 72.2 innings with Hartford. Feltner is a candidate to step into the rotation immediately with Austin Gomber (back) done for the season. Ashton Goudeau is another option for Colorado.

Gomber (back) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports. He is out for the season.

The condition Gomber is dealing with is called spondylolysis or pars defect, a stress fracture of the bones of the lower spine. Gomber ends his first season with Colorado with a 9-9 record, 4.53 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 115.1 innings. It's uncertain whether he'll be a full go for the start of spring training. Gomber will be transferred to the 60-day IL on Sunday to make room on the 40-man roster for Ryan Feltner.

Brubaker left Saturday's game against the Cubs in the fourth inning with an apparent injury, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

This is a tough break for Brubaker, who was just making his return from a stint on the IL with a thumb issue. It's not clear whether this is related to the thumb or a new injury entirely. Brubaker cruised through his first three innings Saturday before allowing the first two batters to reach in the fourth and also uncorking a wild pitch.

Brubaker (thumb) will be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

A right thumb contusion forced Brubaker to the IL on Aug. 25. He will return to action having bypassed a rehab assignment, with the Pirates evidently seeing enough during Brubaker's Sept. 1 side session. Pittsburgh still needs to make a move to clear a roster spot for Brubaker, who sits with a 5.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 124:36 K:BB so far this season.

Gutierrez (9-6) took the loss in Friday's 15-5 rout at the hands of the Tigers, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and a walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.

All four of the hits off Gutierrez went for extra bases, including homers by Jonathan Schoop and Jeimer Candelario. The rookie right-hander has been hit hard in his last two starts and saddled with the loss in three of his last four. Gutierrez has a 4.17 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 76:36 K:BB through 99.1 innings on the season.

DeGrom (elbow) is still likely about 10 days from advancing to bullpen sessions, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

An MRI near the end of August yielded positive results for deGrom, who is recovering from inflammation in his elbow. He is said to be feeling good while throwing on flat ground at 75 feet. However, deGrom still must extend out to 120 feet and show he can handle that before the Mets sign off on him throwing from a mound, and that ramp-up will likely take until mid-September. He would then have to complete multiple bullpen sessions and live BP sessions before returning to action. Per DiComo, the Mets don't expect deGrom to make more than a start or two at the end of the regular season, and any remaining outings for deGrom are likely to be abbreviated.
