Manager Don Mattingly said Sunday that Luzardo (forearm) has yet to resume a throwing program and will take longer than the Marlins initially expected to return from the 15-day injured list, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

When Miami placed Luzardo on the IL on May 12 with a left forearm strain, the team held out hope that the southpaw might be ready for activation shortly after the 15 days lapsed, but that didn't come to fruition. Since he's yet to resume activity and will need to be built back up for a starting role, Luzardo is realistically multiple weeks away from coming off the IL, and it wouldn't be surprising if his absence extended through the All-Star break. Miami plans to call up Edward Cabrera from Triple-A Jacksonville this week to step in as their new fifth starter after Cody Poteet (elbow) joined Luzardo on the IL on Sunday.

Williams will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals at Citi Field, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

After making a spot start May 21 in Colorado, Williams made his most recent appearance out of the bullpen Wednesday in San Francisco. With starter Thomas Szapucki getting tagged for nine earned runs over 1.1 innings before exiting that contest, Williams ended up saving the bullpen by striking out five over 3.2 scoreless frames. He tossed 53 pitches in that outing and should be reasonably stretched out as he slots back into the rotation for what should be a two-start week. Williams' second turn is expected to come next Sunday in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.

Peterson is slated to start Monday's game against Washington at Citi Field, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

With Jacob deGrom (shoulder), Max Scherzer (oblique) and Tylor Megill (biceps) all stuck on the injured list for at least another week, Peterson always appeared likely to receive more than one turn through the rotation following his promotion from Triple-A Syracuse on May 23. He passed his first test in a tough road start in San Francisco, limiting the Giants to two runs while striking out six over six innings en route to capturing a win. Peterson will line up for two starts this week, with his second turn scheduled to come next Saturday on the road against the Dodgers.

Flaherty (shoulder) is scheduled to face live hitters Wednesday, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Flaherty will repeat the activity he most recently performed last Thursday, though he'll presumably increase his workload in the upcoming throwing session after tossing 25 pitches his last time out. If Flaherty's shoulder checks out fine following Wednesday's live batting practice session, he could head out on a minor-league rehab assignment early the following week.

Mikolas (3-3) took the loss Sunday versus the Brewers. He allowed six runs on nine hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 5.2 innings.

Mikolas allowed two home runs, a three-run blast by Jace Peterson in the fifth inning and a solo shot to Rowdy Tellez in the sixth. This was just the second time in 10 starts Mikolas has given up multiple long balls. Sunday was the worst start of what's otherwise been an encouraging year for the 33-year-old right-hander. He has a 2.67 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB in 60.2 innings. He's projected to make a road start against the Cubs next week.

Heaney (shoulder) is slated to face hitters Monday in Los Angeles, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Dodgers initially planned on Heaney throwing a live batting practice session Sunday, but manager Dave Roberts relayed that the southpaw was pushed back a day for logistical reasons. Rather than facing hitters at extended spring training as previously reported, Heaney will instead conduct his throwing session at Dodger Stadium. If all goes well Monday, the Dodgers could map out a rehab assignment for Heaney, who has been on the shelf since April 20 with left shoulder discomfort.

Stroman fanned two in seven scoreless innings while allowing three hits and two walks in a 5-4 loss Sunday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.

After allowing a leadoff single, Stroman retired the next 13 batters he faced. He was efficient, needing just 90 pitches to get through seven frames, and induced 10 groundouts. It was the fifth straight start in which he's allowed two or fewer earned runs, leading to a 1.80 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in 30 innings over that span. The 31-year-old will likely make his next start next weekend against the Cardinals.

Burnes (3-2) allowed two hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts in seven shutout innings to earn the win Sunday versus the Cardinals.

Burnes enjoyed one of his best starts of the year, going seven innings for a fifth time while racking up double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time. He's won consecutive starts while lowering his ERA to 1.95 with a 0.82 WHIP and 78:11 K:BB across 10 outings. The reigning NL Cy Young winner will look to keep up the success in a home start versus the Padres next week.

Strasburg (neck) struck out six and walked one over five no-hit innings in his second rehab start with Single-A Fredericksburg on Sunday.

After issuing four walks in 2.2 innings Tuesday in his first rehab start for Fredericksburg and his 2022 debut, Strasburg righted the ship in his return to the mound. He retired the first 14 batters he faced Sunday and recorded 10 of his 15 outs via strikeouts or groundouts while needing only 58 pitches to cover five innings. According to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com, the Nationals plan to have Strasburg make at least one or two more minor-league rehab starts before bringing him back from the 10-day injured list, so he's unlikely to join the big club until the second week of June at the soonest.

Manager Craig Counsell confirmed Small will have his contract selected from Triple-A Nashville to start Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Cubs, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Small has a 1.88 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 49:21 K:BB over 38.1 innings at Nashville this season, and he's now poised to make his major-league debut. The 25-year-old is Milwaukee's top pitching prospect, and he could secure additional opportunities in the rotation with a strong showing Monday. Aaron Ashby is rounding out the Brewers' rotation with Freddy Peralta (lat) on the injured list, but the team has utilized a six-man group at times this season, and Small may be able to remain in the big leagues as the sixth starter.
