Lodolo did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing three hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings against the Phillies. He struck out 12.

The bullpen squandered the lead in the ninth, but Lodolo was at his most dominant yet as a big leaguer. He set the tone early, striking out the side in the first inning, and finished with 20 called strikes and 15 swinging strikes on 106 total pitches. Lodolo talked after his first start about how his changeup was coming along, and it's looking like a real weapon for him to complement his fastball and stellar curveball. The lefty has a 1.50 ERA and 21:4 K:BB through two starts (12 innings).

Houser (groin) threw a bullpen session Saturday and will head to Triple-A Nashville to being a rehab assignment, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

As expected, Houser will work as a multi-inning reliever on the rehab assignment, which is the role he'll fill when he's with the Brewers. The right-hander is expected to need a few weeks of appearances before he's back with the Milwaukee pitching staff.

Painter (elbow) was placed on Double-A Reading's 60-day injured list Thursday.

The transaction isn't much of a surprise after the 19-year-old was shut down for a month in March due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow. Painter is expected start up a throwing program next week, and it'll be a while before he approaches game action.

Overton will start Sunday's game against the Phillies, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The 29-year-old lined up to start Monday in Atlanta, but the Reds opted to flip Overton's and Graham Ashcraft's spots in the rotation. Overton struggled in his season debut against the Cubs on April 3, giving up five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and a walk over four innings.

Ashcraft won't start Sunday at Philadelphia as previously scheduled and will instead pitch Monday in Atlanta, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

There doesn't appear to be an injury situation, but Ashcraft will still receive an extra day of rest between starts. Connor Overton, who was originally slated to pitch Monday, will move up a day to start Sunday's series finale with the Phillies.

Shuster was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

The 24-year-old surrendered four runs across four innings and issued four walks Friday against the Padres, and it's not a surprise he's returning to the minors with Kyle Wright (shoulder) nearing his return from the injured list. Shuster's big-league career hasn't gotten off to a great start with an 8.31 ERA, 2.42 WHIP and 5:9 K:BB through two outings.

Kershaw (1-1) took the loss Friday while allowing four runs in six innings on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts against the Diamondbacks.

Kershaw gave up a run in the first and third and then allowed two homers in the sixth. The southpaw threw 58 of 91 pitches for strikes in a so-so effort at best. Kershaw will take a 3.75 ERA into a start that's scheduled for next week in San Francisco.

Flaherty (1-1) was charged with the loss Friday in Milwaukee after he gave up two runs on four hits and six walks across five innings. He struck out three.

The Brewers tallied two runs on three hits and two walks during the third inning Friday, but Flaherty was otherwise able to limit the damage. The right-hander threw 50 of his 94 pitches for strikes and has now walked 13 batters through his first two starts of the season. Though he's allowed just two runs on four singles in 10 frames, it's only a matter of time before the free passes come around to score if Flaherty is unable to more consistently find the zone.

Urena (0-2) took the loss Friday, allowing six runs -- four earned -- on seven hits and three walks with no strikeouts over 2.2 innings against the Nationals.

Urena gave up back-to-back homers to begin the start to Alex Call and Jeimer Candelario and two more runs in the second and the third. He was hurt by his defense, but it's another rough outing for the right-hander that sees him fall to 0-2 with a 14.40 ERA. It goes without saying, but Urena is not a recommend streaming option for his next scheduled start next week against the Cardinals.

Woodruff (1-0) earned the win Friday against the Cardinals after allowing four hits with four strikeouts and two walks over 5.1 scoreless innings.

The right-hander scattered four singles and generated 15 swinging strikes, as St. Louis was unable to get anything going against him. Woodruff is off to a strong start in 2023 with just one run allowed and a 12:3 K:BB in 11.1 frames, and he tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation during the middle of next week in Arizona.
