Syndergaard (0-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Mets, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Syndergaard could not secure his first win of the season in the matchup against his former club. The 30-year-old pitched well, silencing the Mets' offense through the first four innings before giving up his only runs of the game on a Brandon Nimmo two-run shot in the fifth. With an 0-3 record, Syndergaard will look to earn his elusive first win in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week's series against Pittsburgh.

Steele (3-0) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits across six innings to earn the win Wednesday in the Cubs' 12-2 trouncing of the Athletics. He walked two and struck out five.

The 12 runs of support were more than enough for the lefty, who now has a dazzling 1.44 ERA across four starts. Steele has also racked up 24 strikeouts versus only eight walks across 25 innings. If he continues to limit the free passes, the sky seems to be the limit for Steele. He's slated to take the hill again early next week against the Padres at Wrigley Field.

Suarez (forearm) is scheduled to throw 35-to-40 pitches in a simulated game Saturday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Suarez checked out fine after facing a slew of hitters in live batting practice Tuesday, so he'll repeat the activity again this weekend while slightly bumping up his pitch count. The Phillies haven't mapped out the next steps for Suarez heading into next week, but he'll presumably need to make at least one minor-league rehab start to get fully stretched out before he's cleared to return from the 15-day injured list.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Burnes' (pectoral) throwing session Wednesday "went well," and the right-hander is on track to make his next start Sunday versus the Red Sox, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Burnes said he was already feeling better the day after being pulled from his start in Monday's win over Seattle with a left pectoral strain. Now that he's had no issues throwing just two days after suffering the injury, Burnes looks as though he'll be ready to start this weekend. The 28-year-old righty holds a 1.35 ERA and 0.60 WHIP with 11 strikeouts across 13.1 innings in his last two appearances.

Carrasco is dealing with a small bone chip that is causing swelling and discomfort in his right elbow, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Carrasco was given an injection in the elbow Wednesday, which he hopes will allow him to rejoin the Mets' rotation in about two weeks. If the shot doesn't alleviate the pain in his elbow, the veteran right-hander will require surgery, which would knock him out for a much longer period of time. The Mets have yet to name a replacement in the rotation for Carrasco, but Joey Lucchesi looks like a strong candidate to be called up from Triple-A Syracuse when a fifth starter is needed Friday in San Francisco.

Walker (2-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 6.1 innings in a 5-2 win over the White Sox. He struck out three.

The Phillies took an early 1-0 lead on a leadoff homer from Trea Turner, but Walker quickly coughed up the advantage by serving up a two-run home run to Andrew Vaughn in the bottom of the first. However, the right-hander was able to settle down and posted four scoreless frames before getting pulled with two on and one out in the seventh. It was Walker's second straight quality start, but he still has a questionable 17:12 K:BB through 21.1 innings.

Woodford (1-2) earned the win Wednesday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over five innings during a 14-5 victory over the Diamondbacks. He struck out one.

After Woodford allowed three runs to let Arizona tie the game at 3-3, the Cardinals' offense struck for four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead. The right-hander served up a solo shot to Pavin Smith in the fourth but proceeded to post a scoreless fifth to put himself in line for a win. It was Woodford's first win of the season, but he's had three straight decent outings after giving up six runs in his first start. He's tentatively scheduled to pitch again during St. Louis' upcoming four-game road set in San Francisco next week.

Wainwright (groin) made his first rehab start for Double-A Springfield on Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out three over three innings.

Wainwright threw 40 of those 59 pitches for strikes, but he averaged just 86 miles per hour with his fastball and topped out at 87 miles per hour, per John Denton of MLB.com. Before returning from the 15-day injured list, the veteran right-hander is scheduled for one more minor-league rehab start, which will likely come next Tuesday with Springfield. He should then be cleared to make his season debut for the Cardinals, around five weeks after suffering a groin strain while working out with Team USA during the World Baseball Classic.

Rogers was diagnosed with left forearm tightness after exiting his start Wednesday versus the Giants, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Rogers tossed 58 pitches over three innings and struck out three while allowing one run on three hits and one walk prior to departing. While the Marlins are likely to put Rogers through additional testing before the extent of his injury is determined, anything elbow- or forearm-related for a pitcher is obviously concerning. The southpaw will most likely be ticketed for the 15-day injured list, even if follow-up tests don't reveal a forearm strain or any structural damage.

Burnes (pectoral) is still scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Burnes left his start against the Mariners on Monday with a left pectoral strain, but the right-hander is scheduled to play catch Wednesday and still listed as the probable starter against Boston. There's still a chance that the 28-year-old misses the outing, but it appears as though Burnes has avoided a significant injury at this stage.
