Wood allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out two over four innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

A poor opening assignment from Scott Alexander put the Giants behind early, and they never caught up. Wood was responsible for the pair of runs that helped to put the game out of reach, including Brandon Drury's solo home run in the fifth inning. Wood is now at a 4.81 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 55:33 K:BB through 67.1 innings over 18 appearances (11 starts) this season. He's projected for another outing at home versus the Rays next week.

Pfaadt (0-6) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.

This was the worst of Pfaadt's four starts since returning to the majors in late July, and it's not a surprise given the tough opponent. This was also the first time he walked multiple batters in that span. For the season, he's now at a 7.16 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 49 innings across 10 starts. Pfaadt could make his next start on normal rest this weekend at home versus the Padres, though it's also possible he draws a road start versus the Rockies next week if Slade Cecconi makes his second career start.

Miley did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over six innings against the Rockies. He struck out two.

Tuesday marked the 300th start of Miley's 13-year career, and his only blemish came on a Nolan Jones solo homer in the fourth inning. The 36-year-old lefty recently returned from a stint on the injured list caused by elbow discomfort, and he's since surrendered just two runs through 10 innings while striking out seven batters and walking five. However, Miley will almost surely be tested during his next start, which is currently scheduled to come against a Dodgers offense that boasts a .797 OPS on the season.

Urias (9-6) allowed four hits and a walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Diamondbacks.

Urias was back up to a full workload after managing a split nail last week that put him on a pitch count. He's opened August with 11 scoreless innings over two starts, striking out 10 and giving up just seven hits and two walks. The southpaw is now at a 4.39 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 87:21 K:BB through 92.1 innings over 17 starts this season. Urias is lined up for a home start versus the Rockies this weekend.

Freeland did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and zero walks over six innings against the Brewers. He struck out four.

Although he allowed eight of Milwaukee's nine hits Tuesday, Freeland's refusal to issue free passes helped him break his streak of four consecutive starts with a loss. However, the 30-year-old lefty was given a lead to work with twice but gave them both up immediately courtesy of home runs from William Contreras in the third inning and Andruw Monasterio in the seventh. Freeland was pulled shortly after Monasterio's homer and remains in search of his first win since May 14 against Philadelphia.

Garrett (6-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits over six innings in a 3-2 victory over the Reds. He struck out three.

Garrett's now allowed just five runs over his last three outings (17 innings) after struggling to a 7.85 ERA in his prior four outings. His ERA is down to 4.08 with a 1.19 WHIP and an impressive 125:19 K:BB across 22 starts (117 innings) this season. The 26-year-old Garrett will look to keep the momentum going in his next outing, currently slated for next week against the Astros.

Mikolas (6-8) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings against the Rays. He struck out five.

Mikolas has pitched seven innings while allowing just two runs in each of his last two starts. However, he was stuck with the loss again Tuesday as the Cardinals failed to provide enough run support against Zach Eflin and the Rays. Mikolas has pitched to a 3.28 ERA over his last seven outings, lowering his ERA to 4.20 on the season with a 1.28 WHIP and 99:26 K:BB across 25 starts (141.1 innings). The 34-year-old Mikolas will look to get in the win column in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against Oakland.

Davies (back) is on track to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Reno, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Davies worked a successful simulated game over the weekend and is slated for one final bullpen session Tuesday before he heads to the farm for what would be his first live appearance since June 23. The 30-year-old right-hander has posted a rough 7.38 ERA across 12 major-league starts this season, but the quickly-sinking Diamondbacks could sure use him back to at least eat some innings.

The Pirates transferred Contreras from Single-A Bradenton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

After accumulating a 6.59 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 68.1 innings in the majors, the Pirates optioned Contreras all the way down to the Florida Complex League so he could work on his mechanics. After a two-inning appearance with Bradenton on Friday, Contreras will now face higher-level competition and could return to Pittsburgh later this season if he performs well in Triple-A.

Solometo was placed on the development list Tuesday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

A second-round pick by the Pirates in 2021, Solometo has impressed during his time in professional ball. He had a sub-3.00 ERA at each of his first three stops and has posted a 3.48 ERA and 36:7 K:BB over 33.2 innings as a 20-year-old at Double-A Altoona. Chances are, this is just a way to manage his workload -- he's already at 92.1 innings for the season after throwing just 47.2 frames last year.
