Davis (undisclosed) has struck out nine while scattering four hits and six walks over 11 scoreless innings between two starts since he was reinstated from Triple-A Albuquerque's 7-day injured list Aug. 13.

The 26-year-old righty was on the shelf at Triple-A for about a month due to the unspecified injury. He's fared well in both of his first two starts since returning from the IL and could get another look in the Rockies' big-league rotation in September.

Ashby (shoulder) acknowledged Tuesday that he is still working on his delivery in side sessions, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

At last check, the 25-year-old left-hander was said to be nearing a minor-league rehab assignment, but his velocity hasn't returned to full force and he'll need more time before returning to live games. Ashby has been on the shelf all season due to a shoulder injury that required arthroscopic surgery back in early April.

The Giants selected Harrison's contract from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of his major-league debut Tuesday at Philadelphia.

Harrison has officially arrived in the majors just 10 days after his 22nd birthday and will try to help plug the leak in San Francisco's injury-ravaged rotation. The young left-hander was showing an underwhelming 4.66 ERA through 65.2 innings of work this summer at the Triple-A level and will likely be on a limited pitch count after missing most of July due to a Grade 2 hamstring strain, but he possesses an elite strikeout arsenal and should offer considerable fantasy appeal down the stretch.

Lodolo (tibia) tossed 2.1 innings and struck out three while giving up two earned runs on three hits and three walks in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Louisville.

After covering three scoreless innings in the second start of his rehab assignment Aug. 15, Lodolo retired two fewer hitters Sunday but still threw 12 more pitches (61, 34 for strikes) than he had in his previous outing (49). The Reds would have likely wanted to see a more efficient performance from Lodolo, but the young lefty might have done enough to make his next start with the big club. With a postponement Monday creating a doubleheader Wednesday, the Reds are beginning a stretch of six games in five days, and the pitching-strapped club could be willing to bring Lodolo back from the 60-day injured list later this week even though he's not yet fully stretched out for a traditional starter's workload. If the Reds opt against activating Lodolo this week, he would likely need just one more rehab start before getting cleared to rejoin the big club.

Ortiz will likely be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to start for the Pirates on Wednesday against the Cardinals, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Ortiz arrived in the Pirates' clubhouse ahead of Tuesday's game versus St. Louis, but he's only on the taxi squad for now. The 24-year-old right-hander carries a 4.86 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 34:26 K:BB in 53.2 innings (10 starts, one relief appearance) this season at the major-league level.

St. Louis placed Liberatore on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with lower-back tightness, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Liberatore was scheduled to return to the Cardinals rotation Wednesday in Pittsburgh, but the back issue that arose in his previous start Aug. 16 didn't fully respond to a period of extra rest. The young left-hander has struggled to a 6.12 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 35:21 K:BB across 50 major-league innings this season.

Musgrove (shoulder) will play catch Friday, MLB.com reports.

It will be the first time he's done any throwing since he landed on the injured list at the beginning of the month with right shoulder capsule inflammation. Musgrove will require several flat-round sessions before being cleared for mound work, and whether he makes it back this season remains to be seen. "I know he's looking forward to it," Padres manager Bob Melvin said. "But we want to kind of push the brakes a little bit. ... It's not going to be an accelerated path forward. It's going to be several of those before he would even consider getting on a mound, so we're still a ways away."

Peterson did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against Atlanta. He struck out four.

The 27-year-old southpaw endured yet another rough outing Monday, allowing a two-run double to Michael Harris and two solo home runs to Marcell Ozuna before exiting with two outs in the fifth inning. Peterson has failed to complete five innings in any of his three starts since rejoining the Mets' rotation on Aug. 9, posting a 5.25 ERA, 2.00 WHIP with a pedestrian 14:10 K:BB across 12 innings during that stretch. Assuming he gets another turn, Peterson is projected to face the Angels at home this weekend.

Winans was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

The transaction comes one day after Winans was roughed up for seven runs on nine hits and one walk over 4.1 innings in a spot start against the Mets. He had been a candidate to pick up another start over the weekend if things went well Monday, but Atlanta now needs his roster spot for bullpen reinforcement.

Shuster was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Shuster will provide some immediate protection for the bullpen, but according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, he's also a candidate to draw a start Sunday in San Francisco, depending on how/if he's needed leading into the weekend. The rookie left-hander holds a 5.00 ERA and 25:22 K:BB over nine starts with Atlanta this season.
