The Twins will recall Festa from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The Twins will use Steven Okert as an opener for Wednesday's series finale against the Phillies, and Festa is expected to work in bulk relief once Okert is removed from the game. Doing so will allow him to avoid facing Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper to begin the game, though Festa's 10.80 ERA in the majors doesn't exactly spark confidence in his ability to handle Philadelphia's high-scoring offense at any point in the contest.

Curry didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Tigers, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out one batter.

Curry held Detroit off the board through his first three innings before surrendering a two-run homer to Wenceel Perez in the fourth. The 25-year-old Curry's logged a mediocre 4.98 ERA over 21.2 innings in the majors this season with a 1.25 WHIP and 13:4 K:BB, though he was impressive with Triple-A Columbus while posting a 2.21 ERA in his last four minor-league outings. Curry could remain in the Guardians rotation until Matthew Boyd (elbow) is ready to to be activated from the injured list. Curry currently lines up for a tough road matchup with the Phillies this weekend.

Marsh (7-7) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over five innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Marsh's last outing was a one-inning relief appearance, presumably to get him some work just after the All-Star break. His return to a starting role didn't go very well, as he allowed at least five runs for the third time in his last seven appearances. The right-hander is now at a 4.75 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 90:31 K:BB through 96.2 innings over 19 appearances (18 starts) this season. He's tentatively projected to make his next start on the road versus the White Sox, though Marsh would likely be in the most danger of losing his rotation spot if the Royals decide to add starting pitching before the trade deadline.

Suarez was diagnosed with a right shin contusion after getting hit by a comebacker during Tuesday's game against the Marlins, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Manager Brandon Hyde said after Tuesday's game that he expects Suarez to be fine -- a good indication that the 34-year-old righty will be able to make his next start against San Diego. He only lasted two-plus innings against Miami before being removed, allowing six earned runs while striking out three batters.

Suarez was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins due to an apparent leg injury, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Suarez took a 102-mph comebacker off his right leg during the third inning of Tuesday's contest, and he was limping as he walked off the field alongside a trainer. An update on his status should be made available once the O's are able take a closer look at him. Prior to his removal, the 34-year-old righty allowed six earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three batters in two-plus innings.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Scherzer (arm) will start Thursday's series finale against the White Sox, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Scherzer experienced arm fatigue during his last start in Saturday's loss to the Orioles, tossing just 53 pitches while allowing four earned runs over two innings. The arm issue seems to have subsided since then, and the Rangers are comfortable sending the 39-year-old veteran to the mound Thursday without giving him extra time to recover. Scherzer will certainly have a favorable matchup during his next start, as the White Sox rank last in the majors in runs scored (319) and OPS (.625).

Schmidt (lat) is throwing a 20-to-25 pitch bullpen session Tuesday that includes his full range of pitches, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

The right-hander returned to the mound Saturday for the first time since he suffered a lat strain in late May, and he'll continue ramping up his workload in the coming days. Schmidt will likely need a few more sessions before being cleared to face live batters. The 28-year-old will be eligible to be reinstated from the 60-day IL next week, but he isn't likely to be back in the Yankees rotation until the second half of August since he'll also require a rehab assignment.

McDermott is likely to be called up from Triple-A Norfolk make his major-league debut Wednesday in Miami, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

McDermott was added to the taxi squad Tuesday, and the Orioles have since announced that Corbin Burnes will start Thursday, filling one of the two open spots in the rotation for the series in Miami. The Orioles still have an opening for Wednesday, and McDermott is fully expected to fill the void. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted a 3.96 ERA and 129:54 K:BB over 91 innings this season with Norfolk.

Nikhazy has a 0.86 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 23 strikeouts in 21 innings across four starts for Triple-A Columbus.

A second-round selection in 2021, Nikhazy has outperformed his scouting report this season. The 24-year-old lefty doesn't have an overpowering fastball (sits in the low-90s), but he has multiple above-average-to-plus secondary offerings, and his fastball has good movement. His walk rates at Double-A and Triple-A have been just north of 10 percent, which is a big improvement for him, as he had a 15.4 percent walk rate at Double-A last year. Nikhazy's 54.3 percent groundball rate at Triple-A is another mark in his favor. He could be an option to join the big-league rotation this summer.

Kudrna was promoted from High-A Quad Cities to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Tuesday.

Kudrna gets the call to Double-A just over a year after his move to High-A. This year, he posted a 3.49 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 71:32 K:BB over 69.2 innings for Quad Cities while starting all 14 of his appearances. He has clear strikeout upside, but he'll need to work on his walk rate -- he had a 4.2 BB/9 this season and will likely be challenged in that regard by moving up a level.
