Double-A Somerset placed Hess on its 7-day injured list April 18 due to an unspecified injury.

The Yankees haven't provided word on the nature of Hess's injury, but he could be dealing with something arm-related after he issued five walks, hit two batters and threw a wild pitch in just 2.2 innings in his final start before landing on the shelf. Hess was a standout performer between stops at High-A Hudson Valley and Somerset in 2025, logging a 3.22 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 139:46 K:BB in 103.1 innings.

High-A Hudson Valley transferred Kohn from its 7-day injured list to the 60-day IL on April 16 due to an unspecified injury.

After striking out eight over 5.2 innings of one-run ball in his season debut April 3, Kohn was placed on the IL just a few days later. The Yankees haven't provided word on the nature of his injury, but the decision to shift him to the 60-day IL indicates that the 23-year-old lefty is dealing with a fairly significant health concern. Kohn previously underwent Tommy John surgery in the spring of 2023.

Gray (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Monday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Interim manager Chad Tracy said Tuesday that everything went well during Gray's first round of mound work since his placement on the IL and added that the plan is for the 36-year-old to build up volume during his next bullpen session. Gray will be eligible to return from the injured list May 6 and seems to be on track to return on or shortly after that date.

Teng is slated to serve as an opening pitcher in Tuesday's game in Baltimore, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Teng has recorded more than three outs in seven of 11 relief outings this season, so he could cover more than one inning Tuesday. However, he's not stretched out enough to make a typical start, so Houston will be treating Tuesday's contest as a bullpen day. Ryan Weiss is a candidate to cover multiple innings in relief once Teng exits the game.

The Royals recalled Avila from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Avila has made one start and one long relief appearance with Kansas City this season, yielding six runs with a 6:4 K:BB over six innings of work. He will provide the Royals' bullpen with some length.

The Blue Jays activated Yesavage (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Yesavage is set to make his season debut Tuesday against the Red Sox after getting a late start to the season due to a right shoulder impingement. The right-hander held an 8.59 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in four rehab starts, though he did strike out 22 batters across 14.2 innings. Yesavage threw 64 pitches in his final rehab outing, so he will not be ready for a full workload Tuesday.

Young is slated to start Thursday's game against the Astros at Camden Yards.

Young will end up sticking around with the Orioles for a second turn through the rotation after he was called up from Triple-A Norfolk last week in the wake of Dean Kremer (quadriceps) landing on the injured list. While stepping into Kremer's spot in the rotation Friday, Young earned a win while striking out five Red Sox batters and allowing three earned runs on seven hits and one walk. With Kremer due to miss multiple weeks, Young should have a decent amount of leash in the rotation so long as he continues to perform adequately.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday during his appearance on Jomboy Media's"Talkin' Yanks" podcast that Rodriguez will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make his major-league debut Wednesday versus the Rangers.

Rodriguez is taking over the rotation spot vacated by Luis Gil, who was sent down to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this past weekend. Rodriguez, a 22-year-old right-hander, has gotten off to a superb start in the minors this season, posting a 1.27 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings at Triple-A. Rodriguez could receive an additional start next week but is unlikely to stick in the majors for the long haul, as the Yankees are due to get both Carlos Rodon (elbow) and Gerrit Cole (elbow) back from the injured list within the next few weeks.

Kochanowicz finished with a no-decision Monday against the White Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six innings.

Kochanowicz was staked to an early 4-0 lead and cruised through six frames with just one run on his ledger. He was hurt by an inning-opening error in the seventh inning, which Chicago followed with a bunt single, and was then pulled. The Angels' bullpen subsequently imploded, allowing the White Sox to cross the plate seven times before getting an out, thus removing Kochanowicz from the equation for a decision. While the right-hander was unable to get into the win column, he nonetheless logged another promising outing, recording his third quality start over his past four appearances. Kochanowicz has solidified his place in the Angels' rotation by putting up a 3.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 24:18 K:BB through 35 innings spanning six starts.

Castillo (0-2) took the loss Monday, allowing seven runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings against Minnesota. He struck out three.

Castillo worked a clean first inning but struggled from there, allowing four runs in the third inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Kody Clemens. Known for his consistency with a career 3.61 ERA and just one full season above 4.00, Castillo is off to a rough start in 2026, posting a 6.35 ERA and 1.73 WHIP with opponents hitting .317 across 28.1 innings (six starts). He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against Kansas City.
