The Blue Jays acquired Taillon from the Cubs on Sunday in exchange for cash or a player to be named later, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment by the Cubs on Monday, and the Blue Jays elected to secure his services via trade rather than risk another team claiming him on waivers. Unless Toronto shifts to a six-man rotation, Taillon doesn't cleanly fit into the club's starting plans, but that could change soon with Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber being candidates to be moved ahead of Monday's trade deadline.

Ginn (finger) will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday's game at Cincinnati, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander landed on the shelf due to a blister after his first start coming out of the All-Star break, but he's ready to rejoin the big-league rotation after throwing a bullpen session Saturday. Even with an eight-run blowup versus the White Sox on July 12 inflating his numbers, Ginn has 6-3 record with a 3.72 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 52:26 K:BB in 55.2 innings across his past 10 starts.

The Rays acquired Peralta from the Mets on Sunday in exchange for outfielder Aidan Smith, second baseman Emilien Pitre and right-hander Gary Gill Hill, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Peralta was pulled from his scheduled start Friday versus Miami in anticipation of Monday's trade deadline, and the Mets found a willing suitor for his services in the Rays, who pivoted to the right-hander after falling short in their pursuit of Tarik Skubal. After being acquired from the Brewers during the offseason, Peralta had a rough time in Queens with a 4.99 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 113:48 K:BB in 113.2 innings over 22 starts. Tampa Bay represents a good landing spot for the 30-year-old, given the Rays' track record of getting the best out of their pitchers.

The Royals placed Avila on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right forearm tightness.

Avila's move to the IL comes after he was blitzed for six earned runs on four hits and three walks over 2.2 innings in a 12-6 loss in Colorado on Saturday. Pitching at high altitude didn't help, but the forearm injury may have played a part in his struggles after he had been developing into a trustworthy fantasy option. Over his preceding seven starts, Avila went 4-0 with a 3.82 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 31:17 K:BB in 35.1 innings. The Royals will send the righty for further testing before providing a timeline for his return, though even mild forearm injuries often entail a recovery period of more than 15 days.

White Sox manager Will Venable said Sunday that Fedde will be moved to the bullpen following the team's acquisition of right-hander Luis Castillo, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Rather than expanding the rotation to six or demoting struggling rookie Noah Schultz to the minors, the White Sox will instead shift Fedde to a long relief role. Fedde had been part of the rotation all season but 10 of his 22 appearances have come as a bulk reliever, so it likely won't be a big adjustment. The veteran righty has gone 6-6 with a 4.13 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:36 K:BB in 102.1 innings this season.

The Twins transferred Paredes (oblique) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Shortly after his initial placement on the IL, Paredes was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain, per MLB.com. After shifting to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man roster spot for the newly acquired Dean Kremer, Paredes won't be eligible to rejoin Minnesota until Sept. 21.

Valdez (6-7) allowed two runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Saturday.

Valdez put together a strong performance in this outing, going seven frames for the second time in his last four starts. The veteran left-hander has allowed 12 runs (11 earned) across 19.2 innings over his last four outings, with his two best performances in that span coming against the A's. He's at a 4.41 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 98:43 K:BB through 120.1 innings over 22 starts this season. Valdez is projected to make his next start on the road in San Francisco.

Avila (5-4) took the loss against Colorado on Saturday, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks while striking out two batters over 2.2 innings.

Avila kept the Rockies out of the scoring column for two frames, but he was knocked around in the bottom of the third. In that inning, Colorado pounced for six runs on five hits and three walks while Avila was on the mound, with the biggest blow being a Hunter Goodman three-run homer. Avila logged his shortest start since a disastrous outing against Houston on June 12 when he gave up eight runs over two-thirds of an inning. Between that start and Saturday's, the right-hander had posted a tolerable 3.82 ERA over seven appearances, but he also had a shaky 1.36 WHIP and 31:17 K:BB during that span. He'll carry an overall 5.53 ERA into his next start, which is tentatively slated to be a home tilt against the Cubs.

Tolle allowed two runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out seven over six innings to take a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.

Tolle put in a decent performance despite allowing 11 baserunners, as he was able to limit the damage to Teoscar Hernandez's two-run home run in the second inning. This is the fourth time in his last five starts during which Tolle has held an opponent to two or fewer runs. The southpaw is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 110:29 K:BB over 101 innings through 18 starts this season. He's logged a total of 116 innings between the majors and Triple-A, already well past the 98 innings he pitched in 2025 across all levels, so workload management may be a factor later in the campaign. He is lined up for a home start versus the Athletics in his next outing.

The Tigers acquired Smith, River Ryan and Zyhir Hope from the Dodgers on Saturday in exchange for Tarik Skubal, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Smith was a third-round selection of the Dodgers in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft. He's spent the majority of the 2026 season with Single-A Ontario but was promoted to High-A Great Lakes on July 21 and has a 4.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 113:30 K:BB over 74.1 innings across the two minor-league levels.
