Ryan didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Red Sox after allowing one run on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out eight.

Ryan worked at least five innings in his seventh straight start to open the season, and it was the fifth time he held the opposition to one run or less already in 2025. The right-hander's velocity was also up a bit, as he touched 95 mph 12 times, and it helped translate to an outstanding 17 swings and misses. Over 40 innings this season, Ryan now boasts a 2.93 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and a sparkling 47:5 K:BB. His ability to limit free passes would figure to play well in his next scheduled outing versus the Orioles, who ranked 25th in the majors in on-base percentage (.296) as of Friday.

Pepiot (2-4) took the loss against the Yankees on Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 4.1 innings.

Pepiot allowed at least one baserunner in each of the first four innings, but was able to maneuver out of trouble without allowing a run. He was lifted in the fifth inning after giving up a walk and a double, and Pepiot was tagged for two runs after Paul Goldschmidt belted a three-run home run off Mason Montgomery. Pepiot generated just 10 first-pitch strikes and five whiffs on 88 pitches (55 strikes) and wasn't able to complete five innings for the first time in seven starts. He's in line to face the Phillies at home next week.

Fried (6-0) picked up the win in Friday's 3-0 victory over the Rays, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out six over seven scoreless innings.

It was another dominant performance by Fried, who faced the minimum number of batters in four of the seven innings. He generated 11 whiffs on 92 pitches (61 strikes) while inducing 10 groundball outs. Fried has recorded five straight quality starts and has allowed two or fewer runs in all seven of his outings this season. His six wins leads the majors and his 1.01 ERA through 44.2 innings is second best behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto (0.90). Fried is lined up to face the Padres at home next week.

The Red Sox recalled Dobbins from Triple-A Worcester on Friday.

As expected, Dobbins will join the major-league roster ahead of Saturday's start against the Twins after Walker Buehler (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list. Dobbins earned wins in both of his starts with Boston so far this season, posting a 2.45 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB across 11 innings.

The Red Sox placed Buehler on the 15-day injured list Friday due to right shoulder inflammation, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Buehler was working through a shoulder issue following his start against the Guardians this past Saturday, and the injury is severe enough to warrant a move to the injured list. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that he expects Buehler's stint on the IL to be minimal, which would suggest the 30-year-old right-hander could return as soon as May 17 during a weekend series against Atlanta. Brayan Bello will take the mound for Boston on Friday and Hunter Dobbins is in line to be called up from Triple-A Worcester to start Saturday.

Eflin (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Aberdeen on Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

It sounds like it could be the only rehab start he needs, as the Orioles have an opening in the rotation May 10 against the Angels that they hope is filled by Eflin. The veteran right-hander has been sidelined since early April with a right lat strain but resumed mound work last weekend and is ready to return to game action.

Orioles general manager Mike Elias said Friday that Rodriguez (lat/elbow) will get re-imaged in a few weeks and could be cleared to resume throwing at that time, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Rodriguez started the season on the 15-day injured list with right elbow inflammation and was recently moved to the 60-day IL after being diagnosed with a mild right lat strain. With the resumption of a throwing program not happening until at least late May, Rodriguez is probably looking at a midseason return even in a best-case scenario. For what it's worth, Elias said Friday that he expects Rodriguez to return later this season.

The Athletics optioned Duran to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Duran was called up earlier this week but didn't make an appearance. The right-hander has posted a 6.75 ERA and 18:12 K:BB over 16 frames at the Triple-A level this season.

The Athletics recalled Hoglund from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Hoglund is set to make his major-league debut Friday with a start against the Marlins. The 25-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.43 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB over 29.2 frames this season in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Hoglund should have an opportunity to stick in the big-league rotation for the long haul if he pitches well.

The Rangers signed Blach to a minor-league contract Friday.

Blach has been assigned to the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate for now but should eventually moved up to Triple-A Round Rock. The left-hander made 12 starts and eight relief appearances for the Rockies last season, posting a 6.94 ERA and 36:18 K:BB over 71.1 frames.
