Aaron Civale SP | ATH
Athletics' Aaron Civale: Gives up three runs in no-decision
Civale didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk across 5.1 innings. He struck out five.
After allowing just three runs across his first three starts (15.2 innings) this season, Civale has now given up eight runs over 10 frames in his last two outings. His ERA now sits at 3.86 with a 1.32 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 26 innings. The 30-year-old Civale will look to recapture his early season success in his next start, tentatively scheduled to come at home against the Royals.

Ryan Johnson SP | LAA
Angels' Ryan Johnson: Nearing bullpen session
Johnson (hamstring/illness) has resumed playing catch and is close to throwing a bullpen session, per MLB.com.
Johnson landed on the 15-day injured list April 6 due to a viral infection. He then made a start in extended spring training April 13 but was removed due to a hamstring injury after throwing just two pitches. Johnson seems to be doing better, and resuming throwing bullpens will be a significant step toward a return to game action. He could be ready to be activated off the IL in late April or early May.

Eric Lauer SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Eric Lauer: Goes five innings in no-decision
Lauer did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Angels, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
While Lauer avoided a fourth straight loss Wednesday, the left-hander has yet to make it through six frames in any of his five outings this season. Overall, Lauer is 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 19:12 K:BB across 22.2 innings. He's currently slated to face the Red Sox at home his next time out.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Royals' Michael Wacha: Takes first loss
Wacha (2-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out five.
After giving up a two-run homer to Pete Alonso in the first inning, Wacha would settle in and hold the Orioles scoreless over his next four frames. However, things would unravel in the sixth, when four straight batters reached safely against the right-hander, all of whom would come around to score. Wacha had been stellar prior to Wednesday -- he turned in quality starts in each of his first four outings, allowing just three runs across 27 innings. Wacha will carry a 2.51 ERA with a 0.93 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB into his next start, currently slated to come on the road against the A's.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Orioles' Chris Bassitt: Grabs first win
Bassitt (1-2) picked up the win Wednesday over the Royals, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
It wasn't Bassitt's best outing, but the right-hander did snag his first win with the Orioles, as Baltimore rallied for six runs in the sixth inning en route to an 8-6 victory. He's yet to complete six frames in any of his five starts this year and sports a subpar 6.75 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 10:13 K:BB. He's currently slated to face the Astros at home in his next outing.

Tanner Bibee SP | CLE
Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Saddled with tough loss Wednesday
Bibee (0-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings as the Guardians were downed 2-0 by the Astros. He struck out three.
A two-run home run by Yordan Alvarez on Bibee's ninth pitch of the game proved to be the only offense either team would produce, but the right-hander shook it off and stuck around long enough to record his second straight quality start on 95 pitches (59 strikes). Bibee's ratios are still inflated by an eight-run disaster in Atlanta on April 12, but he's given up three runs or fewer in five of his six starts to begin the season, posting a 4.45 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB through 30.1 innings. He'll look for his first win of 2026 in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Rays.

James Ellwanger SP | MIN
Twins' James Ellwanger: Out with elbow sprain
Ellwanger was placed on the 60-day injured list at Single-A Fort Myers on Wednesday with a right elbow sprain, Theodore Tollefson of Zone Coverage reports.
A sprain indicates ligament damage, though it's unclear at this point whether Ellwanger might need surgery. A third-round pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Ellwanger turned in a dominant first three starts at Fort Myers, tossing 11.2 shutout innings with a 15:5 K:BB. Now he will be sidelined for at least a couple months, and perhaps much longer.

Connor Prielipp SP | MIN
Twins' Connor Prielipp: Recalled ahead of MLB debut
The Twins recalled Prielipp from Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Prielipp will make his major-league debut Wednesday with a start on the road against the Mets. He earned the promotion by collecting a 2.30 ERA and 22:8 K:BB over 15.2 innings in his first three starts with St. Paul. Prielipp has a high pitch count this season of 77, so he's unlikely to pitch deep into Wednesday's contest. However, the left-hander will have a chance to stick around in the rotation as a fill-in for Mick Abel (elbow).

Ryan Weathers SP | NYY
Yankees' Ryan Weathers: Heads to paternity list
The Yankees placed Weathers on the paternity list Wednesday.
Weathers will be away from the Yankees for the next 1-to-3 days while he welcomes a new addition to his family. After tossing 7.1 scoreless innings in a win over the Royals his last time out Sunday, Weathers wasn't scheduled to make his next turn until Saturday in Houston. As such, the Yankees shouldn't have to adjust their rotation to account for Weathers' move to the paternity list.

Keider Montero SP | DET
Tigers' Keider Montero: Stuck with loss Tuesday
Montero (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings as the Tigers fell 12-4 to the Brewers. He struck out three.
Montero was lifted after 88 pitches (55 strikes), coming up just short of his second quality start in four trips to the mound since joining the Detroit rotation. The 25-year-old right-hander has delivered a strong 3.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB through 22 innings, and with Justin Verlander (hip) not being rushed back into action, Montero should keep his current role into May. He's set to make his next start on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.
