Stripling is listed as the Blue Jays' starting pitcher for Friday's game against the Athletics, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.

Toronto will likely make Stripling available out of the bullpen in an emergency Thursday against the Yankees, but assuming he goes unused, he'll step into the rotation for what is expected to be only one start. The Blue Jays have all members of their five-man rotation healthy, but Stripling will be added to the mix temporarily to give each of the other starters an extra day of rest during a busy schedule of games to open the season.

Marsh (undisclosed) covered 4.2 innings for Double-A Northwest Arkansas in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Wichita, striking out nine while allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks.

Marsh didn't make any appearances after June 15 of last season due to an unspecified injury, but he's seemingly back to full health to begin the 2022 campaign. He pitched well in his season debut Wednesday, pumping in 52 of 77 pitches for strikes while holding opposing hitters to a .125 average on the night. Since Marsh only made six starts for Northwest Arkansas in 2021, the Royals may want to give the 23-year-old an extended look at Double-A to begin the season before entertaining a promotion to Triple-A Omaha.

Kaprielian (shoulder) will make a rehab appearance at Low-A Stockton on Thursday, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Kaprielian tossed 45 pitches during a simulated game Sunday, and his next appearance will come in a minor-league matchup. It wouldn't be surprising to see the right-hander make several rehab appearances to build up, but he's trending toward a potential return to the major-league club in late April or early May.

Keuchel (1-0) earned the win during Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Mariners after allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five without walking a batter across five innings.

Keuchel drew his first start of the season and was solid across five frames. Ty France struck early with a home run in the first, but Keuchel was able to toss four scoreless frames before getting himself into a jam in the fifth. The crafty lefty was able to escape without too much damage and earned his first win of the season. He'll look to build off his strong start Monday, when he's tentatively scheduled to start in Cleveland.

Ray allowed six runs on 10 hits and four walks while striking out four across 6.1 innings during Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the White Sox. He earned his first loss of the season.

Ray allowed four runs in the second inning, capped off by a two-run double by Tim Anderson. The left-hander was able to steady the ship until he allowed back-to-back homers to Anderson and Luis Robert in the seventh inning. All things considered, it wasn't a terrible outing for the veteran against a lineup that has notoriously dominated left-handed pitching. After signing a five-year, $115 million deal this past offseason, the 2021 AL Cy Young winner has struck out nine across 13.1 innings of work during his first two starts as a Mariner. Ray is tentatively scheduled to face the Rangers at home next Tuesday.

Berrios allowed three runs on six hits and three walks in five innings during Wednesday's win over the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.

Berrios certainly looked better than his tumultuous first start, in which he threw just 18 of 34 pitches for strikes and recorded only one out. The 27-year-old will look to build off his solid outing next Wednesday, when he's tentatively scheduled to start against the Red Sox in Boston.

Cole allowed three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out six in 5.2 innings during Wednesday's loss to the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the decision.

Cole was solid during his second outing of the season, but he couldn't get Vladimir Guerrero Jr. out, as the youngster racked up three hits off the ace, including two homers and three RBI. Cole tossed 85 pitches -- 17 more than Opening Day -- and appears to be fully ramped up following the delayed start to spring training. He tentatively lines up to start in Detroit on Tuesday.

Groome allowed one hit and struck out four over five scoreless innings for Double-A Portland on Wednesday.

Groome picked up where he left off for Portland at the end of 2021, as he went 2-0 with a 2.30 ERA, .211 batting-average against and 26 strikeouts over 15.2 innings (three starts) for the Sea Dogs last September. His career since being selected in the first round (12th overall) of the 2016 draft has been notable mostly for injuries, including Tommy John surgery in 2018. The left-hander threw a career-high 97.1 innings last season and is experiencing his longest stretch of health since joining professional ball. There's still time for the 23-year-old, who stands at 6-foot-6 and 262 pounds, to reclaim the promise he once had.

McClanahan (0-1) pitched 4.2 innings against Oakland on Wednesday, allowing three runs on two hits and three walks to take the loss. He struck out eight.

The left-hander had his strikeout stuff working in the outing, as he induced 16 swinging strikes and racked up eight punchouts. However, he also walked three batters and was stung by a three-run homer off the bat of Sean Murphy in the third inning that provided all the scoring Oakland needed to pull out the win. McClanahan has recorded 15 strikeouts over nine innings across his first two starts of the campaign but has yet to earn a victory. He'll aim for that first win in his next outing, which is expected to take place in Chicago against the Cubs early next week.

Montas (1-1) earned the win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday, completing 6.1 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks while striking out six.

Montas was touched for a solo home run by Ji-Man Choi in the fourth inning, but that was the only extra-base hit he allowed in the outing. The right-hander registered 16 swinging strikes among his 89 pitches and didn't issue any free passes. Montas struggled by giving up five earned runs against Philadelphia in his first start, so this was an impressive bounce-back performance. He's slated to next take the mound at home against Baltimore next week.
