Evans had a cortisone shot in his elbow recently and is scheduled to resume throwing in the next couple of days, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reported Friday.

Evans was placed on the injured list Aug. 15 with inflammation in his right elbow, and he received a cortisone shot to address the inflammation. He's close to resuming his throwing progression, but it's unclear how far behind he fell during the shutdown period. Evans shouldn't be expected back until September.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora relayed Friday that Buehler will be moved from the rotation to the bullpen, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Buehler has struggled in his first season in Boston, posting a 7-7 record across 22 starts with a 5.40 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 82:54 K:BB across 110 innings. The veteran right-hander will likely be used in long relief out of the bullpen and will help fortify the depth with Justin Slaten (shoulder), Luis Guerrero (elbow), Josh Winckowski (elbow) and Liam Hendriks (hip) all on the 60-day injured list. Buehler was originally slated to start against the Orioles on Monday, but Cora has yet to name a starter in Buehler's stead. Per Cotillo, Richard Fitts and Kyle Harrison are the leading candidates to fill in as Monday's starter.

The Athletics recalled Estes from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Estes hasn't pitched in an MLB game since April 6, spending nearly all of the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Las Vegas. The 23-year-old has posted a 5.51 ERA and 67:20 K:BB across 17 appearances (15 starts) spanning 80 innings with Las Vegas. Estes is likely to slot into the A's rotation, taking the place of Jack Perkins (shoulder), who landed on the 15-day injured list.

DeGrom (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

DeGrom's last start was skipped due to right shoulder fatigue, though the Rangers indicated the decision was made as much or more due to the pitcher's workload than injury. As long as deGrom gets through his bullpen session Saturday with no issues, he should start Monday's game against the Angels.

The Astros transferred Walter (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Walter suffered a setback Monday in his recovery from left elbow inflammation and was shut down from throwing. He'll now be ineligible to return until Sept. 23, making a regular-season return uncertain. The 28-year-old has a 3.35 ERA in 53.2 big-league innings this season.

The Astros activated McCullers (finger) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

McCullers is set to rejoin the rotation Friday in Baltimore after missing more than a month of action with a blister on his pitching hand. The veteran right-hander threw 80 pitches and went five innings in his lone rehab start, so he shouldn't have much of a workload restriction Friday.

The Blue Jays reinstated Bieber (elbow) from the 60-day injured list to start Friday's game at Miami.

After recovering from Tommy John surgery, the right-hander is making his first start for Toronto and his first MLB appearance since April of 2024. Bieber finished his rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo in dominant form, as he threw 64 of 90 pitches for strikes over seven scoreless frames last Friday. The 30-year-old shouldn't have significant workload limitation given the lengthy rehab assignment, though the Blue Jays are still likely to exercise some caution with his usage. The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner has a career 3.22 ERA and 10.2 K/9 in 136 big-league appearances, all of which to this point have come with Cleveland.

The Orioles placed Young on the 15-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain.

Young suffered the injury in the sixth inning of Thursday's start versus the Astros while covering first base. The rookie right-hander will be eligible to return Sept. 6, but with Kyle Bradish (elbow) set to join the Orioles' rotation next week, it's uncertain what role Young will be in line for if he does make it back this season.

Woods Richardson (illness) appears in line to be activated from the 15-day injured list sometime in September, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Woods Richardson allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk while fanning four batters over 3.1 frames in his second rehab appearance with Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday. He will make at least one more appearance for St. Paul before rejoining the Twins' active roster. Coming back from a procedure to remove a parasite from his digestive tract, Woods Richardson's role upon his activation is unclear. The Twins expect to get Pablo Lopez (shoulder) back before long, Mick Abel is joining the rotation this weekend and Taj Bradley's arrival also appears imminent, so Woods Richardson might pitch in relief.

Abel joined the Twins' taxi squad and appears likely to be recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to start Saturday against the White Sox in Chicago, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Picked up from the Phillies at the trade deadline in a deal that sent reliever Jhoan Duran to Philadelphia, Abel has posted a 1.76 ERA and 23:6 K:BB over 15.1 innings in his first three outings with Triple-A St. Paul. The 24-year-old previously made six starts in the majors with the Phillies, collecting a 5.04 ERA and 21:9 K:BB across 25 frames. The Twins hope to get Pablo Lopez (shoulder) and Simeon Woods Richardson (illness) back from the injured list in the next couple of weeks, but Abel could get the chance to stick in the big-league rotation for the rest of the season if he pitches well Saturday.
