Kopech (4-8) gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.1 innings to take the loss in an 8-0 defeat to the Rangers on Saturday.

Kopech's 97 mph fastball wasn't enough to overpower the Rangers, and he was saddled with his eighth loss of the season after being chased in the fourth inning. The major damage came on a bases-loaded single off the bat of Adolis Garcia. Kopech was also responsible for a runner who came in to score on a wild pitch by reliever Jose Ruiz after he had left the game. Kopech had an ERA of 1.92 on June 12, but the nine starts he has made since that time have lifted it to 3.38. The 26-year-old right-hander will look to rebound in his next start, which is expected to come against the weak Tigers lineup.

McClanahan (10-5) gave up four earned runs on six hits and no walks while striking out three over 6.1 innings to take the loss in a 9-1 defeat against the Tigers on Saturday.

McClanahan was cruising on his way to another quality start but got into some trouble in the seventh inning when each of the first two batters notched a hit. Rays manager Kevin Cash decided to go to the bullpen after McClanahan gave up a sacrifice fly -- which could have easily gotten down for a double if it weren't for an excellent sliding grab by Jose Siri in center field -- to Jonathan Schoop in the next at-bat. McClanahan was then tagged with another earned run after leaving the game. The 25-year-old left-hander has now given up nine earned runs over his past two starts to raise his ERA to 2.24, which ranks fourth best in all of MLB. The Rays' ace will look to return to dominance in his next start, which is expected to be versus the Orioles.

Garcia (8-8) gave up four earned runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out five over six innings to take the loss in a 4-1 defeat to the Guardians on Saturday.

All of the trouble came in the first two innings for Garcia, as he gave up four runs before getting six outs. The 25-year-old right-hander then settled into a groove by striking out the side in the third and making it through six without giving up another run. Garcia's ERA has been drifting higher ever since June, and it is now up to 3.93 after he was handed his eighth loss of the season. Garcia will look to reverse this trend in a favorable matchup next week at home against the Athletics.

Quantrill (8-5) gave up three hits and a walk while striking out four over six shutout innings to earn the win in a 4-1 victory over the Astros on Saturday.

Quantrill bounced back from a couple of rough starts his last two times out with six big shutout innings against one of the best offenses in the AL. He found success by pitching to contact with his sinker to induce plenty of groundballs and relying on quality defense from the left side of his infield. The 27-year-old right-hander picked up his eighth win and lowered his ERA to 3.88 with the performance. He is tentatively expected to make his next start in front of a hometown crowd at Toronto next week.

Wentz (shoulder) will be activated from Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list Wednesday to pitch in the Mud Hens' game that day against Omaha, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

According to McCosky, the Tigers plan to have Wentz make a tandem start along with Bryan Garcia, who was optioned to Triple-A earlier in the weekend. Wentz, who has been on the IL since early June with a left shoulder injury, will be rejoining Toledo after tossing three scoreless innings for High-A West Michigan on Wednesday. Wentz or Garcia could be options to rejoin the big club for its Aug. 15 doubleheader in Cleveland, when the Tigers will require a temporary sixth member of the rotation.

Flexen (7-9) took the loss during a 7-1 defeat in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Flexen navigated the first two innings unscathed before surrendering five runs over the next four innings to fall in line for the loss. The rough outing breaks a five-start streak of allowing two runs or fewer, during which the 28-year-old pitched to a 1.95 ERA across 27.2 innings. Flexen sports a 3.92 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 81 strikeouts in 117 innings across 21 starts and is scheduled to pitch again next weekend on the road against the Rangers.

Detmers (4-3) earned the win in Game 2 of Saturday's 7-1 victory over Seattle, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Detmers kept the damage to a minimum early and surrendered only one run on a Luis Torrens solo shot in the fifth. This was the lefty's third straight start permitting one earned run or fewer. The 23-year-old has pitched to a 1.16 ERA in five starts since the start of July while recording 38 strikeouts in 31 innings. Detmers possesses 3.44 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 82 strikeouts in 89 innings across 17 starts and lines up to pitch again versus Minnesota next weekend.

Bundy allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Saturday.

It was an unusually short start for Bundy (65 pitches, 45 strikes), with the only blemish on his line a two-run home run to Bo Bichette. It doesn't sound like Bundy had any issues, though it may be part of workload management -- his 93.1 innings this season is his highest total in three years. He's logged a 5.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:20 K:BB through 19 starts, and he's projected for a road start versus his former team, the Angels, next weekend.

Eovaldi allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out seven in six innings, taking a no-decision versus the Royals on Saturday.

Eovaldi gave up solo home runs to MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel as well as a two-run single to Bobby Witt. This was the second time in his last five starts Eovaldi has avoided walking a batter, though he's given up at least three runs in four of those outings. The midseason slump has him at a 4.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 93:16 K:BB across 93.2 innings through 17 starts this year. The 32-year-old is projected for a home start against the Yankees next week.

Kirby (3-3) allowed one earned run over six innings and picked up the win in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Angels. He gave up six hits, struck out eight batters and walked none.

The Mariners scored only two runs Saturday, but that was plenty for Kirby, who allowed only two extra-base hits and just missed tying his season high of nine strikeouts. Since being tagged for a season-high seven earned runs June 27, Kirby has given up only six earned runs over his last five starts, covering 26.1 innings in that span.
