  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

    Twins' Sonny Gray: Stumbles Wednesday

Gray did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over four innings against the Dodgers. He struck out four.

It certainly could've been worse for Gray, as he allowed just two runs despite allowing eight batters to reach safely. Still, he made it through only four innings, as he was forced to spend 84 pitches. It's only the second time this season Gray has allowed more than one run in a start. The 33-year-old right-hander is 4-0 with a league-leading 1.64 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 60:19 K:BB through nine starts this year.

  • Luis Medina RP | ATH

Athletics' Luis Medina: Delivers quality start

Medina did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks over six innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out six.

Medina had his best outing as a rookie, but Oakland still couldn't pull out a win. Medina only allowed three hits, but two of them were homers that produced all three of his earned runs. Three starts into his career, the righty has a 6.88 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He has provided decent strikeout numbers with 15 across 17 innings.

  • Guardians' Triston McKenzie: Making rehab start Saturday

McKenzie (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

McKenzie is slated to throw three innings and/or 50 pitches in his first game action since being diagnosed with a right teres major strain in late March. He'll undoubtedly need at least one additional rehab start after that and perhaps more given how much time he's missed.

  • Domingo German SP | PIT

Yankees' Domingo German: Handed 10-game suspension

Major League Baseball suspended German for 10 games Wednesday for violating the league's foreign substance policy, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

He was given an undisclosed fine, as well. German was ejected just three innings into his start in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jays after umpires found what they believe was a foreign substance on his right hand. The pitcher won't appeal the ban and will begin serving the suspension immediately, so he'll be eligible to return May 28.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Another rehab start likely

Glasnow (oblique) is likely to make another rehab start at Triple-A Durham before returning from the 15-day injured list, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Glasnow was excellent in a rehab start with Durham on Tuesday, striking out nine over four scoreless innings. While the positive outing seems to have put any concern over his minor setback in his May 10 rehab start to bed, he still needs to be built back up a bit. Assuming Glasnow comes through his next outing at Durham -- likely on Sunday -- no worse for the wear, he should be ready to make his season debut for Tampa Bay the following weekend against the Dodgers.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Advances throwing to 90 feet

Rodon (back) advanced his throwing to 90 feet Wednesday without issue, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

The cortisone injection for Rodon's chronic back issue seems to have done the trick, as he's thrown multiple times in the last several days without any problems and plans for a second injection have been scuttled. Rodon will continue to ramp up his throwing program in the coming days and will eventually try things from the mound if he continues to progress.

  • Taj Bradley SP | MIN

Rays' Taj Bradley: Starting Thursday for Rays

Bradley will start for the Rays on Thursday in New York against the Mets, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Ideally, the Rays would probably like to keep Bradley in the minors a little longer as he works on his pitch mix and getting used to a traditional five-day schedule. However, with the big-league club's rotation hit hard by injuries, the team doesn't have much of a choice here. While Bradley struggled lately at Triple-A Durham, he was excellent in his three starts with the Rays earlier this season and will have a shot to remain in the rotation for the long haul.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Making season debut Sunday

Severino (lat) will make his season debut for the Yankees on Sunday in Cincinnati, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Severino went only 3.1 innings in each of his two rehab starts, maxing out at 58 pitches in his last outing Tuesday with Double-A Somerset. That means he'll surely be on a relatively limited pitch count in his season debut, making him a fairly iffy fantasy option at Great American Ball Park. Still, the Yankees and fantasy managers will be happy to get Severino back -- perhaps for the long haul -- if he can manage to avoid more injuries.

  • Davis Martin SP | CHW

White Sox's Davis Martin: Gets Tommy John surgery

Martin announced Wednesday that he underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

The White Sox talked Martin up as a rotation candidate this spring, but he got sent to Triple-A Charlotte before Opening Day and his forearm/elbow began barking after just three starts with the affiliate. Given that Tommy John surgery usually entails a recovery timeline of 14-to-16 months, the 26-year-old will likely be sidelined until well into the second half of the 2024 season.

  • Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Stumbles against Pittsburgh

Rodriguez (4-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings against the Pirates. He struck out five.

Rodriguez matched a season high with four runs allowed Wednesday after he'd allowed just two runs over his previous six starts (41.2 innings). The 30-year-old left-hander still sports a sparkling 2.06 ERA with a 0.86 WHIP and 52:12 K:BB through 56.2 innings this season. Rodriguez will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week in Kansas City.
