Tigers' Sean Guenther: Recalled, placed on 60-day IL

The Tigers recalled Guenther from Triple-A Toledo and placed him on the 60-day injured list while he recovers from a left hip arthroscopy.

Guenther had resided on Toledo's 7-day IL since May 30, but he was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at High-A West Michigan about three weeks later. The southpaw reliever hadn't pitched for West Michigan since June 25, however, and an explanation behind his absence has now been provided by the Tigers. He'll be added to the Tigers' 60-day IL in what's essentially a procedural move, as Guenther is considered likely to miss the rest of the season, per Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for lefty PJ Poulin, whose contract was selected from Triple-A.

  • Yankees' Jayvien Sandridge: Returns to minors

The Yankees optioned Sandridge to Triple-Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.

The left-hander allowed two runs over two-thirds of an inning during his MLB debut Saturday against the Mets, and he'll now head back to the minors. Sandridge has a 0.87 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 19:5 K:BB in nine appearances with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.

  • Geoff Hartlieb RP | ATH

Yankees' Geoff Hartlieb: Back with New York

Hartlieb signed a major-league contract with the Yankees and was selected to the active roster Sunday.

The right-hander elected free agency after being designated for assignment by the Yankees a few days ago, and he's quickly back on the MLB roster. Hartlieb allowed three earned runs over one inning during his lone appearance with New York and should fill a low-leverage relief role.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Notches save in return

Dominguez (back) picked up his second save of the season in Sunday's 2-1 win over Atlanta, striking out two while allowing one earned run on two hits over one inning.

Dominguez wasn't available for either of the Orioles' previous two games due to a sore back, but interim manager Tony Mansolino was comfortable turning to the right-hander to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning Sunday with normal closer Felix Bautista being rested following appearances on both of the past two days. The save didn't come easily for Dominguez, who gave up a one-out solo home run to Sean Murphy before Ozzie Albies singled to put the tying run on base. However, Dominguez settled in thereafter, striking out Drake Baldwin and then inducing a weak grounder from Michael Harris to close out the contest. The 30-year-old Dominguez has posted a 3.31 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 47:20 K:BB across 35.1 innings this season while working primarily in a setup role.

  • Marlins' Ronny Henriquez: Nabs win Saturday

Henriquez (5-1) picked up the win Saturday over the Brewers, striking out two in a perfect eighth inning.

The right-hander breezed through the middle of Milwaukee's order on eight pitches (seven strikes) before Miami broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the frame. Henriquez has emerged as the Marlins' top high-leverage option, and over his last 11 appearances he's collected two wins, two holds and four saves with a 0.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 16:2 K:BB in 10.2 innings.

  • Lazaro Estrada RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Lazaro Estrada: Demoted to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Estrada was sent back to the minors to clear room on the 26-man roster for Ryan Burr (shoulder), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. After getting his first big-league call-up Friday, Estrada impressed in Saturday's 11-inning win over the Angels, giving up one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out four over four frames of long relief.

  • Ryan Burr RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Ryan Burr: Off injured list

The Blue Jays activated Burr (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Sunday.

The right-hander has been on the shelf all season due to shoulder issues but is now ready for his 2025 MLB debut after a five-outing rehab assignment, during which he had a 6:3 K:BB over 5.1 scoreless frames. Burr made 34 appearances for Toronto last season and had three holds with a 4.13 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB across 32.2 innings.

  • Ryan Loutos RP | SEA

Nationals' Ryan Loutos: Returns to Triple-A

The Nationals optioned Loutos to Triple-A Rochester on Sunday.

The right-hander has an 11.32 ERA across 10.1 innings between the Dodgers and Nationals this season, which includes the two runs he allowed over three innings while pitching in the past two games for Washington. Loutos was demoted to free up roster space for Shinnosuke Ogasawara, who is starting Sunday against the Red Sox.

  • Griffin Jax RP | TB

Twins' Griffin Jax: Dominant after early struggles

Jax threw a scoreless eighth inning with a walk in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Rays. He has a 3.86 ERA with 18 holds in 37.1 innings this season.

It was a rare appearance for Jax without a strikeout, as he has an eye-popping 61:9 K:BB and 39.1 percent strikeout rate. After early struggles (10 earned runs in his first eight innings) that saw him briefly demoted to lower-leverage work, Jax has a 1.84 ERA since April 22 and has been the primary set-up man to closer Jhoan Duran. Unlike previous seasons, manager Rocco Baldelli has mostly kept Duran in the ninth inning instead of deploying him in higher-leverage spots earlier in the game, limiting Jax's save opportunities.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Nursing sore back

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Dominguez hasn't been available out of the bullpen for the Orioles' last two games due to a sore back, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Per Brendan Mortensen of MASNSports.com, Mansolino said Dominguez reported the injury after he "slept funny," but the skipper is hoping the reliever will be available Sunday. Dominguez has been a key bridge to closer Felix Bautista this season, collecting 13 holds, one save and two wins while pitching to a 3.15 ERA over 34.1 innings.
