  • Justin Sterner RP | ATH

Athletics' Justin Sterner: Picks up first win

Sterner (1-2) earned the win in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Rangers. He allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

Entering for Jacob Lopez after he failed to record an out in the sixth inning, Sterner worked out of a bases-loaded jam to preserve a one-run lead that the Athletics held the rest of the way. With starter J.T. Ginn (shoulder) exiting after 3.1 innings and Joel Kuhnel and Lopez combining to provide limited length and effectiveness, the official scorer awarded Sterner the win, his first of the season. Since allowing four runs in a blown save against the Rangers on April 16, the 29-year-old has turned in five scoreless innings and owns a 3.07 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with an 18:5 K:BB across 14.2 innings in 2026.

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

    Lucas Sims: Elects free agency

Sims elected to become a free agent Saturday.

Sims passed through waivers unclaimed after being removed from the White Sox' 40-man roster and has exercised his right to free agency. The veteran reliever could wind up re-signing with Chicago on a minor-league deal, but he's now free to link up with any team. Sims posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 10 innings with the White Sox before losing his roster spot.

  • Austin Warren RP | NYM

Mets' Austin Warren: Sent back down

The Mets optioned Warren to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Warren was the 27th man during Sunday's doubleheader against the Rockies and tossed two scoreless frames in the first contest. He's fared well during his brief time with the big club this season, yielding only one run with a 5:0 K:BB in 3.2 innings, but Warren will report back to Syracuse and wait for another opportunity in the majors.

  • Kirby Yates RP | LAA

Angels' Kirby Yates: Struggling during rehab stint

Yates (knee) has made three minor-league rehab outings since April 17, giving up a combined seven runs on seven hits while posting a 5:1 K:BB over three innings.

Yates' rehab appearances have been spread out, as he's had at least two days off between each outing. The veteran reliever has given up at least one run in each of his one-inning appearances and has served up two homers across his three frames. It's not clear how long the Angels plan to keep Yates on his rehab assignment, and his struggles may not be helping his cause for rejoining the big-league roster in short order. After Jordan Romano was designated for assignment Sunday, the Angels' closer situation is extremely murky, and Yates is a clear candidate to take on the role given his 98 career regular-season saves. However, the club may want to see Yates put together some better outings before feeling comfortable handing him the ball in the ninth inning of close contests.

  • Yuki Matsui RP | SD

Padres' Yuki Matsui: May rejoin Padres soon

Matsui (groin) may be nearing activation from the 15-day injured list, per MLB.com.

Matsui didn't get to participate in any spring contests, so San Diego has elected to keep him on his rehab assignment for an extended period. The lefty reliever has made nine rehab appearances with Triple-A El Paso, posting a 3.72 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 12:1 K:BB over 9.2 innings. Matsui's activation from the IL could be coming soon, though he may not be thrust into high-leverage work right away.

  • Padres' Jeremiah Estrada: Begins rehab stint

Estrada (elbow) kicked off a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Friday, per MLB.com.

Estrada landed on the injured list April 10 due to tightness in his right elbow. The righty reliever resumed playing catch shortly thereafter and is now pitching in games again. Estrada tossed a clean inning with one strikeout in his first rehab appearance Friday and may not need a lengthy stint in the minors before he's brought back up to the big-league bullpen.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | LAA

Angels' Drew Pomeranz: Blows save chance

Pomeranz took a blown save in Sunday's 11-9 extra-inning loss to the Royals, allowing one run on one hit over one-third of an inning. He didn't strike out or walk a batter.

Pomeranz was brought into a tough spot after Brent Suter allowed a two-out RBI single to Salvador Perez. The switch didn't work out, as Jac Caglianone tied the game with a two-run home run, sticking Pomeranz with his first blown save of the season. Over 11 appearances, Pomeranz has a 7.84 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB through 10.1 innings. The Angels designated Jordan Romano for assignment Sunday, but Pomeranz's performance has hardly been encouraging in the late innings. Kirby Yates (knee) is on a rehab assignment and will likely get the chance to close once he's off the injured list, relegating Pomeranz back to a setup role if he can keep his spot on the major-league roster. Ben Joyce (shoulder) could also be in the long-term mix for saves, but he is still working his way back from a torn labrum.

  • Victor Vodnik RP | COL

Rockies' Victor Vodnik: Earns save in Game 1 of twin bill

Vodnik struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in a 3-1 win over the Mets in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader.

Vodnik had allowed seven runs across his last 1.2 innings, so it was encouraging to see him pitch a clean frame Sunday. He has converted four of six save chances this season while pitching to a 6.94 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 10:6 K:BB over 11.2 innings. Vodnik is operating as the Rockies' closer for now, but he can't afford to have too many more bad outings. Antonio Senzatela and Zach Agnos (two each) are the other relievers to log multiple saves so far for the Rockies this season, though both of them are capable of long-relief assignments and may not see steady late-inning work.

  • Hoby Milner RP | CHC

Cubs' Hoby Milner: Pitching well so far

Through 13 appearances this season, Milner has a 2.70 ERA and 1.05 WHIP out of Chicago's bullpen.

Milner served up a solo home run across an inning of relief Sunday, but it's still been a good start to the season for the veteran lefty. He's logged 10 scoreless outings in his 13 appearances overall and has recorded two holds as well. However, Milner has tallied only three strikeouts over 13.1 innings, and his lack of swing-and-miss stuff gives him a smaller margin of error compared to other relievers.

  • Shota Imanaga RP | CHC

Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Allows five runs in loss

Imanaga (2-2) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over 5.1 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out six.

Imanaga wasn't at his best, allowing a season-high five runs, including three in the first inning. Sunday's outing snapped a stretch of stellar pitching from the southpaw, who had allowed just three runs across 24 innings over his previous four starts. Overall, the 32-year-old owns a 3.15 ERA and 0.87 WHIP with a 38:9 K:BB across 29 innings (five starts), and his next outing is projected for Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
