Blue Jays' Spencer Miles: Continues to impress
Miles walked one and struck out three in two scoreless innings of relief during Wednesday's win over the Red Sox.
The rookie Rule 5 pick handled the last two innings for the Blue Jays to protect a 7-1 lead, and Miles has no trouble with the assignment, tossing 16 of 26 pitches for strikes. While the 25-year-old right-hander has predictably been limited to low-leverage spots, he has looked like he belongs in the majors, producing a 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB through his first 15.2 MLB innings.

Blue Jays' Spencer Miles: Collects win in MLB debut
Miles (1-0) picked up the win Saturday against the A's, walking one and striking out one in a scoreless 11th inning.
The Rule 5 pick was thrown right into a high-leverage situation in his big-league debut, and Miles rose to the challenge by stranding the phantom runner before the Blue Jays walked it off in the bottom of the frame. Miles was sitting 97-98 mph with both his two-seam and four-seam fastballs while mixing in a slider that produced his first career strikeout against Max Muncy, and while the 25-year-old right-hander had never pitched above Single-A prior to Saturday, his arsenal could quickly make him an asset in the Toronto bullpen if his control and command hold up.

Blue Jays' Spencer Miles: Wins bullpen spot
The Blue Jays announced Wednesday that Miles won a spot in the Opening Day bullpen.
A Rule 5 pick out of the Giants system, Miles has yet to pitch above the Single-A level and didn't take the mound at all in 2025 while he recovered from Tommy John surgery. The 25-year-old right-hander showed enough this spring to stick on the 26-man active roster, however, posting a 3.72 ERA and 11:5 K:BB in 9.2 innings and topping out at 98.1 miles per hour with his sinker in his final spring outing. Miles will begin his big-league career in a low-leverage role, but his premium velocity could allow him to move up the depth chart if he shows he can harness it effectively.
