Rodriguez (shoulder) was spotted throwing off a mound Monday at the Angels' spring training complex in Arizona, Jared Tims of TalkinHalos.com reports.

Rodriguez hasn't made an appearance in affiliated ball since 2021 after he required surgery in October of that year to repair a torn right shoulder capsule. Though the right-hander reported to spring training healthy and even faced hitters, he was placed on the IL to begin the season since the Angels wanted to give him more time to build up to a starter's workload, per MLB.com. Unfortunately for Rodriguez, he experienced a small setback in April followed by a more significant setback in May, prompting the Angels to shut him down for an extended period. He now appears to have resumed a throwing program, but Rodriguez still has multiple checkpoints to hit before the Angels will clear him to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment.

Hill (finger) will throwing a simulated game Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Assuming he gets out of the session with no complications, Hill should be cleared to resume a rehab assignment. The left-handed reliever won't require too many rehab appearances before being activated, so a late-August return is on the table.

Coleman (0-2) allowed two runs on one hit and a hit-by-pitch without recording an out to take the loss Monday versus the Athletics.

Coleman plunked Ryan Noda and then served up a walk-off two-run home run to Brent Rooker in the ninth inning. The right-hander has nine appearances in August, but he's completed an inning in just three of them. He's given up five runs (four earned) over 5.2 frames this month, and a 7:7 K:BB and four hit batsmen indicates unsteady control. Overall, Coleman has an 8.84 ERA, 2.02 WHIP and 21:19 K:BB through 18.1 innings this season.

Winn (elbow) was reinstated from Triple-A Sacramento's 7-day injured list Saturday and gave up five earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three in 2.2 innings in his return to action against Tacoma.

Winn was sidelined for just a month due to right elbow soreness. The right-hander made five appearances (two starts) with the Giants earlier in 2023 but will likely need to enjoy a sustained run of success at Sacramento before garnering another look with the big club.

Bickford (3-4) gave up a hit and struck out three over 1.1 scoreless relief innings Monday to pick up the win in a 10-4 victory over Atlanta.

Starter David Peterson failed to last five innings, and Bickford took over from the southpaw with the Mets already ahead 7-4 to get credit for the win. It's his first victory in 10 appearances since joining New York at the beginning of August, but his 8.38 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB through 9.2 innings for his new team will keep him in a low-leverage role.

May (4-4) got the win against the Royals on Monday, firing a perfect ninth inning during which he recorded two strikeouts.

May was exceedingly sharp, pounding 12 of his 14 pitches in for strikes while disposing of the trio of Salvador Perez, MJ Melendez and Freddy Fermin. May was then rewarded for his impeccable work when Brent Rooker walked it off with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, which allowed the veteran right-hander to even his won-loss mark on the season. May has now posted scoreless efforts in nine of his last 10 appearances and continues to see the bulk of the ninth-inning opportunities on the team.

Triple-A Las Vegas placed Smith on its 7-day injured list Aug. 12 with an unspecified injury.

After the Athletics demoted him to Triple-A on July 25, Smith turned in seven scoreless appearances out of the Las Vegas bullpen before he was blown up for five earned runs on three hits and one walk while recording just one out in an Aug. 11 appearance versus Sacramento. He landed on the IL a day later and is without a clear timeline for a return.

Manaea (4-4) took the loss Monday against the Phillies. He allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three over 2.2 innings.

Manaea was slated for a bulk role behind Scott Alexander on Monday, though he'd only last 2.2 innings after surrendering three runs on a pair of homers. The 31-year-old Manaea had been pitching well coming into the day, allowing just one run over his last 15 innings. Overall, his ERA is up to 5.06 with a 1.28 WHIP and 102:33 K:BB across 83.2 innings this season.

The Athletics acquired Newcomb from the Giants on Monday in exchange for Trenton Brooks.

Newcomb posted a 3.16 ERA and 40:20 K:BB over 31.1 innings this season at Triple-A Sacramento. Now a full-time reliever, the left-handed Newcomb will report to Triple-A Las Vegas for the time being but could get another shot at the big-league level with the Athletics eventually.

Hatch did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two hits and one walk over three scoreless innings against St. Louis. He struck out one.

Hatch served as Pittsburgh's opener Monday, after he had exclusively pitched out of the bullpen this year for both the Blue Jays and Pirates. The 28-year-old righty fired three scoreless frames and handed the ball off to Bailey Falter, who operated as the team's bulk reliever. In four appearances since Hatch was claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh on Aug. 6, he has posted a 1.93 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP with two holds across 9.1 innings.
