Espino will be called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday to start for the Blue Jays in their series finale in Baltimore, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 37-year-old righty will be back with the Blue Jays for the first time since April and is slated to make his first MLB start since 2022. He's been a full-time member of the rotation during his stay with Buffalo this season, logging a 5.09 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 36:18 K:BB in 53 innings. Espino hasn't covered more than four innings in any of his three starts with Buffalo since returning from a brief stint on the 7-day injured list earlier in July. As a result, Espino could be a candidate to get piggybacked Wednesday by Yariel Rodriguez, who struggled in the first inning of his start during the first game of the series Monday before being pulled after tossing only 43 pitches.

The Dodgers designated Ramirez for assignment Tuesday.

Ramirez and Gus Varland will both be forced off Los Angeles' 40-man roster in order to make room for Kevin Kiermaier and Jack Flaherty, who were both acquired ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. Ramirez was lit up for four runs in just two innings during his last MLB outing July 4, though he's given up just one earned run in 4.2 Triple-A frames since then.

The Dodgers designated Varland for assignment Tuesday.

Varland will join Nick Ramirez as the Dodgers' roster casualties, as the team needed to create space on the 40-man roster for new additions Kevin Kiermaier and Jack Flaherty. Varland has given up just two runs in six innings with the Dodgers this season, though his 7.99 ERA at Triple-A may make other teams hesitant to claim the 27-year-old righty off waivers.

Faedo (5-3) allowed two runs on two hits across 1.2 innings of relief to take the loss Tuesday against the Guardians. He struck out one.

Faedo followed opener Tyler Holton and didn't have much luck as he continued his recent struggles. After notching wins in five straight decisions between mid-April and July 20, Faedo has now taken the loss in consecutive appearances out of the bullpen. Over his last eight outings, the righty has allowed eight runs across 11.1 innings. Faedo has still been mostly solid this season with a 3.81 ERA and should be able to get back on track soon.

The Blue Jays optioned Eisert to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Eisert will head back to Buffalo after he served as the Blue Jays' 27th man for Monday's doubleheader with the Orioles. He mopped up after an abbreviated start by Yariel Rodriguez in the Blue Jays' 11-5 loss in the opening game of the day, giving up three earned runs on four hits and one walk over 2.2 innings.

Krook was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Tuesday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Krook has spent the majority of 2024 campaign with Triple-A Norfolk, where he'll likely remain if he clears waivers. The left-hander owns a 4.11 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 41 strikeouts over 35 innings in 34 appearances out of Norfolk's bullpen this year. With the Orioles acquiring a handful of players during Tuesday's trade deadline, Krook appears to have been one of the odd men out on the 40-man roster.

The Pirates designated Ryan for assignment Tuesday.

During his last stint in the majors, Ryan allowed five earned runs in just four innings, and he surrendered four earned runs in just one-third of an inning during his most recent Triple-A appearance. He'll now be pushed off the 40-man roster in favor of Jake Woodford, who was selected from Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

The Pirates transferred Jefferies (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Elbow inflammation forced Jefferies onto the injured list July 6, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures he'll be sidelined until at least Sept. 4. His spot on the 40-man roster will be given to Jalen Beeks, who was acquired in a trade with Colorado on Monday.

The Twins selected Dobnak's contract from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.

Dobnak will join the Twins for the first time since the 2021 season after posting a 3.61 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through 99.2 innings at Triple-A.Though he's served primarily as a starter in the minor leagues, he'll likely operate out of the bullpen as a multi-inning reliever while with Minnesota. In order to create space on the 40-man roster, the Twins transferred Alex Kirilloff (back) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL.

The Astros recalled Dubin from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The right-hander has a 5.14 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 36:19 K:BB over 35 innings for the Astros this season, and he'll rejoin the big club for Tuesday's matchup with the Pirates. Dubin should fill a low-leverage role while up in the majors.
