Matz (1-0) earned the win Wednesday over the Astros, allowing one run on two hits and no walks over five innings. He struck out five.

Matz allowed a run on a pair of hits in the first inning before settling in and blanking Houston over his final four frames, setting down the final 15 batters he faced. Matz, who made five appearances out of the bullpen before starting Wednesday's outing, now sports a 2.16 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB through his first 16.2 innings this year. Matz figures to see at least two more starts, with the Cardinals electing to utilize a six-man rotation for the next three weeks.

Loaisiga (elbow) threw a live batting practice session Wednesday, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

It appears to be the first time he's faced hitters since last April's internal brace procedure. The Yankees hope Loaisiga can rejoin their bullpen by late May or early June, but he still has some work to do in his rehab program before a timeline for his return becomes clearer.

The White Sox selected Wilson's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Wilson was removed from the 40-man roster back in February, but he's found his way back to the majors after permitting just one run with a 10:1 K:BB over 5.1 frames at Charlotte this season. He will likely operate in middle relief initially, but Wilson could work his way up the hierarchy of a talent-deficient bullpen if he gets off to a nice start.

The Mariners recalled Klein from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

He's taking the roster spot vacated by Gregory Santos, who was sent down to Tacoma. Klein has struggled this season with Tacoma, yielding nine runs with a 13:7 K:BB over 6.1 relief innings.

The Mariners optioned Santos to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

The Mariners had high hopes that a finally healthy Santos could be a weapon in their bullpen this season, but he has struggled mightily, posting a 5.14 ERA and ugly 0:8 K:BB over seven innings. Will Klein is absorbing his spot in the Seattle bullpen.

The Rangers released Chargois on Tuesday.

The veteran reliever had been torched for 14 runs (10 earned) over 4.2 innings with Triple-A Round Rock. Chargois holds a 2.73 ERA over parts of the previous four seasons at the major-league level, so he should be able to find an opportunity with another organization quickly.

Vesia earned a hold against Colorado on Tuesday, walking one batter in a scoreless inning.

Vesia entered in the eighth inning and walked Ryan McMahon on seven pitches to begin his outing, but he needed only four more pitches to get out of the frame, as he induced a groundball double play and a flyout to the next two batters. The lefty reliever has been a key high-leverage part of Los Angeles' bullpen, racking up five holds and one save over 10 appearances. Vesia has posted a 14:6 K:BB along with a 2.70 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 10 innings this season.

The Mets optioned Kranick to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Kranick was unscored upon in his first six relief appearances this season but allowed two runs over 1.2 frames in Tuesday's game versus the Twins. The Mets have not yet placed Jose Siri (leg) on the 10-day injured list, so Kranick could be recalled once that move is officially made.

The Mets recalled Hagenman from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

Per Mike Puma of the New York Post, Hagenman is set to serve as the bulk reliever in Wednesday's game in Minnesota in what will be his major-league debut. The 28-year-old has allowed 11 runs (eight earned) across 10.1 innings this season with Syracuse. The Mets are likely to option Hagenman back to Syracuse following Wednesday's contest.

Brazoban will serve as the Mets' opening pitcher in Wednesday's game against the Twins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Brazoban will be making his first career start after permitting just one run with a 9:2 K:BB over his first 11.1 innings this season out of the season. He'll likely be tasked with covering no more than three innings before giving way to Justin Hagenman, who will serve as the Mets' bulk reliever Wednesday.
