  • Tyson Miller RP | CHW

Dodgers' Tyson Miller: Scooped up by Dodgers

The Dodgers claimed Miller off waivers from the Mets on Sunday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Miller will begin his second stint in the Dodgers organization in this month alone, as Los Angeles had previously lost him to New York in a waiver claim Aug. 4. The Mets eventually booted Miller off their 40-man roster a few weeks later, but the right-hander will get another look in the Los Angeles bullpen while the Dodgers currently have eight relievers on the injured list. Since Miller has already been optioned to the minors five times this season between stops with the Brewers, Mets and Dodgers, he'll need to be added to Los Angeles' 26-man active roster. The Dodgers already cleared a spot for Miller on the 40-man roster by transferring Tony Gonsolin (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL.

  • Ryan Thompson RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ryan Thompson: Moves up to Arizona

The Diamondbacks selected Thompson's contract from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Arizona designated right-hander Nabil Crismatt for assignment to clear room in the bullpen for Thompson, who could make his Diamondbacks debut in Sunday's series finale with the Reds. Before inking a minor-league deal with Arizona earlier this month following his release from Tampa Bay, Thompson had produced a 6.11 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB in 17.2 innings at the big-league level with the Rays this season.

  • Daniel Duarte RP | NYM

Reds' Daniel Duarte: Brought back from Triple-A

The Reds recalled Duarte from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Duarte was summoned from Triple-A to give the Reds a fresh arm out of the bullpen after Cincinnati received just five innings from its starting pitchers over the previous two days. Over 20 prior relief appearances with Cincinnati in 2023, Duarte has pitched to a 3.86 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 18.2 innings.

  • Marlins' David Robertson: On outs as Miami closer

The Marlins are expected to remove Robertson from the closing role beginning with Sunday's game against the Nationals, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports.

Marlins manager Skip Schumaker hasn't confirmed that Robertson has lost hold of the ninth-inning gig, but the writing appears to be on the wall for the right-hander's removal from the role after he blew his second save in the last three chances in Saturday's loss to Washington. Since being acquired from the Mets on July 27, Robertson has turned in a 7.20 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 10 innings while blowing three of seven save opportunities. Tanner Scott profiles as the most likely option to take over as Miami's closer, though it's possible that Schumaker opts to take a committee approach to save situations.

  • Yency Almonte RP | LAD

Dodgers' Yency Almonte: Couple weeks away

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Almonte (knee) is still at least a couple weeks away from returning from the 15-day injured list, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Alomonte landed on the injured list Aug. 12 with a right knee sprain, and he remains in rest-and-recovery mode with the beginning of September looming. The 28-year-old reliever had pitched to a 5.06 ERA and 49:24 K:BB in 48 innings for Los Angeles prior to the injury.

  • Matt Carasiti RP | ATL

Rockies' Matt Carasiti: Activated and optioned

Carasiti (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Carasiti is recovered from the right shoulder inflammation that sent him to the IL in late June, but the Rockies don't currently have a spot for him in their bullpen. The 32-year-old holds a career 7.28 ERA in 47 major-league innings.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Still feeling arm discomfort

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Kelly is still experiencing forearm discomfort, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Kelly tried to throw a bullpen session Friday and it didn't go well, though Roberts said that the veteran reliever is still expected back at some point this season. He's been on the 15-day injured list since Aug. 13 due to a bout of right forearm inflammation.

  • Adam Kolarek RP | LAA

    Mets' Adam Kolarek: Gets DFA'd

Kolarek was designated for assignment by the Mets on Sunday.

Kolarek had worked 4.2 scoreless innings of relief for New York, but he'll get the boot from the 40-man roster as the Mets activate Mark Vientos (wrist) from the 10-day IL and recall Jeff Brigham from Triple-A Syracuse.

  • Jeff Brigham RP | CHC

Mets' Jeff Brigham: Brought up from Triple-A

The Mets recalled Brigham from Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Brigham returns as a fresh bullpen arm ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Angels. The 31-year-old right-hander has posted a 5.16 ERA and 33:13 K:BB in 29.2 major-league innings this season.

  • Tristan Beck RP | SF

Giants' Tristan Beck: Gets starting nod Sunday

Beck will serve as the Giants' starting pitcher for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.

Beck will be picking up his first MLB start Sunday, but he may not be able to reach the five innings he would need to qualify for a win. After making a one-inning relief appearance Wednesday in Philadelphia, Beck will be taking the hill on three days' rest. Beck hasn't covered more than four innings in any of his relief outings with the Giants since the start of June, turning in a 2.85 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB over 41 frames during that stretch.
