  • Pirates' Colin Holderman: Sent for rehab assignment

Holderman (wrist) will start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Holderman threw 22-to-25 pitches of live batting practice last Friday and will head to Indianapolis to begin what's expected to be a brief rehab assignment. The right-hander sprained his right wrist Aug. 8 and becomes eligible to return Friday.

  • Brent Suter RP | LAA

Reds' Brent Suter: Good bullpen session

Suter (shoulder) had a good bullpen session Monday in Toronto and could begin his rehab assignment by the end of the week, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "The international pen was solid. Not unbelievable, but solid," Suter said. "Felt real good."

It's been previously reported that Suter will need three appearances on his rehab assignment, which pushes a potential return date to early September.

  • Robert Garcia RP | TEX

Nationals' Robert Garcia: Back from bereavement list

The Nationals reinstated Garcia (personal) from the bereavement list Tuesday.

The left-hander spent the past few games on the bereavement list but is back with the Nationals ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Rockies. Garcia has 11 holds with a 4.80 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 58:16 K:BB across 45 innings this season.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Dodgers' Joe Kelly: Records 13th hold

Kelly picked up a hold against Seattle on Monday, striking out one batter in a perfect inning of work.

Kelly served as the bridge between starter Gavin Stone (who pitched seven scoreless innings) and Evan Phillips (who handled the ninth for a save). Though Kelly missed over two months from early May to mid-July due to a shoulder injury, he ranks second on the Dodgers with 13 holds. The right-hander has posted a 4.88 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB over 24 innings on the campaign.

  • Tyler Matzek RP | NYY

Giants' Tyler Matzek: Initiates rehab assignment

Matzek (elbow) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento last week and has given up two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out a batter across two innings over his two appearances.

Matzek had resided on Atlanta's injured list since early May while recovering from elbow inflammation before he was dealt to San Francisco on July 29. The left-hander completed his throwing progression shortly after joining his new organization and is now in the midst of a rehab assignment that could be extended into September if the Giants aren't satisfied with his results at Sacramento. He's scheduled to make his next appearance for the Triple-A club Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

  • Tristan Beck RP | SF

Giants' Tristan Beck: Makes third rehab appearance

Beck (arm) struck out four and allowed four earned runs on five hits and no walks over three innings in his most recent rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Beck has now covered three innings in each of his three rehab starts with Sacramento, logging a 5.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB. According to MLB.com, Beck is scheduled to make his next start for Sacramento on Friday and is likely to work 4-to-5 innings. Though Beck appears to be getting stretched out for a traditional starting role as he works his way back from an the upper right arm aneurysm that he had addressed surgically in early March, the Giants likely won't have a spot available in the rotation for the right-hander once he completes his rehab assignment.

  • A.J. Minter RP | NYM

Braves' A.J. Minter: Shifted to 60-day injured list

Atlanta transferred Minter (hip) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of new signee Gio Urshela. Minter needs surgery to repair his left hip and will miss the rest of the season.

  • Jack Neely P | CHC

Cubs' Jack Neely: Added to roster

The Cubs selected Neely's contract from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Acquired from the Yankees in the Mark Leiter trade, Neely has collected a 2.42 ERA and 76:17 K:BB over 48.1 innings between the Double- and Triple-A levels in 2024. The 24-year-old will likely be used in low-leverage spots initially, but he could work his way into a more prominent role as part of an unsettled Cubs bullpen. Neely will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.

  • Robert Suarez RP | ATL

Padres' Robert Suarez: Collects 28th save

Suarez earned a save against the Twins on Monday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over one inning.

Suarez wasn't exactly sharp in the outing, but he had a three-run lead to work with and performed well enough to pick up the save. The right-hander threw just 12 of 22 pitches for strikes and allowed a run for the third time over his past five appearances, though he's gone 4-for-4 on save opportunities during that span. Despite the moderately bumpy stretch, Suarez still has an outstanding 1.82 ERA and 0.91 WHIP on the season, and he ranks fifth in the majors with 28 saves.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Grabs save Monday

Phillips struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Monday's 3-0 win over the Mariners.

It was far from a nervy outing, as Phillips threw nine of 13 pitches for strikes to earn his first save since July 23. All three of Phillips, Daniel Hudson and Michael Kopech had pitched Sunday, so it's noteworthy Phillips got the save chance here against the top of the Mariners' order. For the season, he has 16 saves in 18 opportunities along with a 3.40 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 47:12 K:BB through 39.2 innings. The Dodgers' have a bevy of high-leverage options, so don't expect Phillips to be a full-time closer even if he gets more looks going forward than he did over the last month.
