Michael Petersen P | MIA
Braves' Michael Petersen: Dealt to Atlanta
Atlanta acquired Petersen from the Angels on Tuesday in exchange for cash and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Petersen was dumped from the Halos' 40-man roster Monday but will reclaim a roster spot with his new organization. The 30-year-old allowed 13 earned runs in 19.2 innings between the Dodgers and Marlins last season but dominated in Triple-A to the tune of a 1.64 ERA and 0.76 WHIP across 33 frames.

Colin Holderman RP | CLE
Pirates' Colin Holderman: Potential to garner save chances
Holderman could see some save opportunities for the Pirates after the team demoted David Bednar to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Holderman is high on the Pirates' bullpen hierarchy, but he's struggled in all three of his appearances this season, permitting three runs on four hits and three walks. As such, Dennis Santana might be a better bet to get the first crack at the closer job for Pittsburgh.

Dennis Santana RP | PIT
Pirates' Dennis Santana: Could be in line for save chances
Santana might see save chances for the Pirates following the demotion of David Bednar to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Santana was excellent for the Pirates last season after being claimed off waivers, posting a 2.44 ERA and 50:11 K:BB over 44.1 innings while notching one save. He hasn't allowed a hit or a run in his first two appearances in 2025, holding a 3:2 K:BB in 1.1 frames. Colin Holderman could also be in the saves mix for Pittsburgh, although he's struggled this season in yielding three runs on four hits and three walks over three innings.

Chad Patrick P | MIL
Brewers' Chad Patrick: Another start on tap this weekend
Patrick is listed as the Brewers' probable pitcher for Sunday's game versus the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Patrick is set to make his first major-league start Tuesday against the Royals. It's possible the Brewers change their mind if things go particularly poorly Tuesday, but for now Patrick is lined up for another start this weekend. Patrick may be needed for additional starts after that, although Jose Quintana is likely to be ready to join the rotation next week.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Pirates' David Bednar: Optioned to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Bednar to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.
Bednar really struggled last season and has been tagged for four runs (three earned) over three appearances while recording just three outs so far this season. The Pirates have elected to have him work out his issues in a less pressurized environment. Dennis Santana and Colin Holderman are the top candidates for saves in the Pirates' bullpen.

Brett de Geus RP | PHI
Phillies' Brett de Geus: Claimed by Philadelphia
The Phillies claimed de Geus off waivers from the Marlins on Tuesday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
De Geus will join his fourth organization since January after landing with the Phillies. The right-handed reliever has been assigned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will give the Phillies some bullpen depth.

Alexis Diaz RP | TEX
Reds' Alexis Diaz: Throws live batting practice
Diaz (hamstring) threw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News reports.
Diaz continues to work on his mechanics after they were thrown off following a hamstring injury. The reliever is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list April 8, but there has not been an established timetable for his return yet. Reds manager Terry Francona has indicated he would like Diaz to get his closer job back when he's healthy and his mechanics are in order. Emilio Pagan has recorded the Reds' lone save so far, while Ian Gibaut has a blown save.

Jesse Chavez RP | ATL
Braves' Jesse Chavez: DFA'd by Atlanta
Atlanta designated Chavez for assignment Tuesday.
The veteran right-hander inked a minor-league deal with Atlanta last week and had his contract selected from Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, and he pitched later in the day versus the Dodgers, giving up a run on two hits and two walks over two innings. Chavez had a 3.13 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 55:19 K:BB across 46 appearances for Atlanta last season, but his stay on the big-league roster early this year was brief.

Nick Mears RP | KC
Brewers' Nick Mears: Beginning rehab assignment
Mears (illness) was sent to Triple-A Nashville to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday.
Mears got a late start to the season due to an illness he caught during spring training that resulted in some weight loss. He's got his strength back now and should have a good shot to be activated from the 15-day injured list April 8 when first eligible.

Ryan Walker RP | SF
Giants' Ryan Walker: Works ninth in Monday's win
Walker walked one and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning during Monday's 7-2 win over the Astros.
It wasn't a save situation, but it was still reassuring to see Walker on the mound after back tightness had him shut down over the weekend. Camilo Doval picked up a save Sunday in his absence, but Walker should get the bulk of the ninth-inning work for the Giants after a breakout 2024 campaign that saw him post a 1.91 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 99:18 K:BB over 80 innings.
