Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson picked up a win Tuesday, surrendering three earned runs on six hits and one walk in seven innings and striking out three in his team's 4-3 victory over the Giants.

Nelson (2-2) served up a three-run home run in the sixth inning but otherwise pitched very well in the win, his first since rejoining the rotation despite putting together three straight quality starts. Hand delivered his fourth straight quality start and was on the hook for the loss before the offense bailed him out late in the game. He scattered hits throughout the start but gave up runs in the third and seventh innings. Hand owns a 4.03 ERA and 42:27 K:BB ratio in 67 innings, which is a nice turnaround after owning a 6.38 ERA upon his return in July. He's slated to take on the Reds Sunday.

Mark Melancon suffers walkoff loss Sunday vs. Diamondbacks

Pirates pitcher Mark Melancon took a loss Sunday, giving up one earned run on one hit and one walk in two-thirds of an inning in his team's 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Diamondbacks.

After walking a batter to set up a double play, the team wasn't able to convert on a ground ball to the shortstop, getting just one out and watching the winning run score. Melancon owns a 2.28 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 44:7 K:BB ratio in 47 1/3 innings.
