  • Phillies' Enyel De Los Santos: Recalled ahead of start

The Phillies recalled De Los Santos from Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to his scheduled start Sunday against the Marlins, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

When a sixth starter was needed Tuesday against the Mets, De Los Santos was summoned from Triple-A and made his MLB debut, giving up three runs over 6.1 innings and striking out six en route to the victory. He was optioned to Lehigh Valley following the outing, but De Los Santos will pick up a surprise two-start week after Zach Eflin (finger), who was initially scheduled to start Sunday, was moved to the 10-day disabled list. Eflin's injury doesn't sound particularly serious, so he could be back after the All-Star break, which would result in De Los Santos moving back to Triple-A.

  • Brad Boxberger RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Brad Boxberger: Strikes out side for 24th save

Boxberger gave up a hit but struck out the side in a scoreless inning Saturday to save the Diamondbacks' victory over the Braves.

Boxberger continued his excellent campaign as Arizona's closer and has converted each of his last eight save opportunities. He's 24-for-28 in that category on the year and has established a firm grasp on this job. He's complemented that solid success rate with a 3.06 ERA and 12.5 K/9, even with his shaky 4.6 BB/9.

  • Austin Voth RP | MIN

Nationals' Austin Voth: Mauled by Mets

Voth (0-1) took the loss Saturday, coughing up seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.1 innings while striking out three as the Nationals fell 7-4 to the Mets.

Making his first career big-league start, the right-hander coughed up a three-spot in the second inning and got tagged with four more runs in the fifth before getting the hook. Voth will likely head back to Triple-A Syracuse after this performance, and with Stephen Strasburg (shoulder) expected back right after the All-Star break, it could be a while before Voth gets another shot in the majors.

  • Marlins' Kyle Barraclough: Rings up ninth save

Barraclough gave up two hits in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to pick up his ninth save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Phillies.

It's his first save in seven July appearances, but that's more a product of the Marlins' inability to hand him leads consistently than Barraclough's own performance. He now has a 1.28 ERA and 47:23 K:BB through 42.1 innings on the season.

  • Marlins' Trevor Richards: Shuts down Phillies in win

Richards (3-5) picked up the win Saturday, allowing four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings while striking out four as the Marlins downed the Phillies 2-0.

The rookie threw 65 of 98 pitches for strikes en route to his fourth quality start, and while Richards didn't manage a high strikeout total, his 17 swinging strikes suggest he was somewhat unlucky on that front. He'll take a 4.74 ERA into the All-Star break.

  • Brent Suter RP | ATL

Brewers' Brent Suter: Takes loss despite solid outing

Suter (8-6) threw five innings and took the loss Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and one walk while striking out three Pirates.

Suter did allow a solo home run but limited damage otherwise. Unfortunately, Milwaukee allowed five runs over the final three frames. The finesse southpaw, who was returning after an absence caused by a forearm injury, has three quality starts in his last five outings and still may carry streamer utility in many mixed fantasy leagues despite his 4.39 ERA, considering his attractive command (7.4 K/9, 1.7 BB/9 through 19 appearances).

  • Clay Holmes SP | CHC

Pirates' Clay Holmes: Throws six scoreless frames for first win

Holmes (1-1) threw six scoreless innings Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader to earn his first major-league win, working around four hits and two walks and striking out six Brewers.

The right-hander improved his MLB ERA to 3.65 over four appearances (two starts). Holmes, 25, had a 3.39 ERA in 13 appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis and, despite having a generally modest long-term outlook, could wind up with a sustained opportunity at a rotation gig if some dominoes fall his way. He's probably just a spot starter and frequent shuttle rider, however, until such an avenue clears.

  • Carl Edwards RP | DET

Cubs' Carl Edwards Jr.: Placed on paternity list

Edwards was placed on the paternity list Saturday.

Edwards will be able to return after the All-Star break. Rob Zastryzny was called up to take his place in the bullpen.

  • Jeff Hoffman RP | MIN

Rockies' Jeff Hoffman: Sent down to Triple-A

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Hoffman was up for one start and failed to impress, lasting just 3.1 innings and giving up three runs on eight hits Friday against the Mariners. He was sent down to make room for Jon Gray, who was recalled in a corresponding move.

  • Sam Howard RP | DET

Rockies' Sam Howard: Brought back to big leagues

Howard was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Howard made a single appearance for the Rockies back in June, throwing one scoreless inning. Harrison Musgrave was placed on the disabled list with a strained hip flexor in a corresponding move.
