  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Dodgers' Dylan Floro: Sent down to Oklahoma City

Floro was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Floro was cast off the active roster in order to make room for Walker Buehler ahead of his start Wednesday. Since coming over to the Dodgers on July 4, Floro has logged a 3.68 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with eight strikeouts across 7.1 innings of relief. Look for him to return to the big leagues in the near future once the club requires a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Will Smith RP | KC

Giants' Will Smith: Nabs fourth save

Smith picked up his fourth save Tuesday, striking out two in a scoreless inning against the Mariners.

Smith ran into little trouble, striking out the first two batters he faced before getting a popup to send down Seattle on just nine pitches. It's the first save for any San Francisco pitcher in nearly three weeks, but with Hunter Strickland (finger) sidelined, Smith appears to have emerged as the preferred option to close out games over Sam Dyson, Mark Melancon and Tony Watson. He's now a perfect 4-for-4 in saves since taking over that role, and sports a sterling 1.45 ERA and 0.84 WHIP on the season.

  • Andrew Suarez RP | BAL

Giants' Andrew Suarez: Allows three in no-decision

Suarez allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's win over the Mariners. He did not factor into the decision.

Suarez entered the sixth inning in line for the win, but after allowing the game-tying run to reach on a two-out walk he was lifted and saw the run come around to score against the bullpen. Though he was able to limit the damage on the scoreboard, the lefty didn't have his best stuff Tuesday as he induced just five swinging strikes en route to a season-low one punchout. He'll take a 3.99 ERA into Sunday's home start against the Brewers.

  • Jesse Chavez RP | ATL

Cubs' Jesse Chavez: Off to good start with new team

Chavez, who struck out all three batters he faced in Tuesday's loss to the Diamondbacks, has pitched four perfect innings with six strikeouts since joining the Cubs on Saturday.

The Cubs needed a bullpen boost with several relievers dealing with injuries, and Chavez has delivered in his first three appearances since the team acquired him in a trade Thursday. The 34-year-old righty has a solid 3.28 ERA this season and figures to remain a key member of the Chicago relief corps the rest of the way.

  • Chris Rusin RP | COL

Rockies' Chris Rusin: Headed to DL

Rusin was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with plantar fasciitis.

Rusin had a 6.81 ERA in 39.2 innings for the big club prior to hitting the shelf. He trades places with Harrison Musgrave (hip), who was activated from the DL in a corresponding move.

  • Matt Koch RP | COL

Diamondbacks' Matt Koch: Optioned to Triple-A

Koch was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Koch was called up just before the break and tossed a pair of scoreless innings, lowering his season ERA to 4.28. He'll make way for the return of Clay Buchholz (oblique), who gets the start Tuesday against the Cubs.

  • Nick Burdi RP | NYM

Pirates' Nick Burdi: Advances rehab to Double-A

Burdi (elbow) tossed a scoreless inning in a rehab outing Monday for Double-A Akron, working around a hit and a walk and striking out two.

It was the third rehab appearance for Burdi, who is nearing the finish line in his recovery from the Tommy John surgery he required last May. The elbow injury didn't deter the Pirates from acquiring him in the Rule 5 draft, which means that Burdi will have a spot on the big club's active roster waiting for him once his 30-day rehab window expires. If the Pirates aren't willing to spare a spot in the bullpen for the right-hander, he would be subject to waivers and offered back to the Twins.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Walks three and takes loss

Dominguez fell to 1-3 on the season after allowing a pair of runs on three walks and a hit Monday against the Dodgers, getting just a single out.

Yet again, pitching on back-to-back days proved to be Dominguez's downfall. When pitching on at least one day of rest, the young righty has an 0.61 ERA and an 18.0 K/BB in 29.1 innings. When pitching for the second day in a row, he has a 10.80 ERA and a 1.1 K/BB in five innings. It's no surprise that Dominguez would struggle in these situations, as he only converted to relief this spring. The Phillies need to find another reliever, potentially on the trade market, that manager Gabe Kapler can trust as much as he trusts Dominguez, as the evidence keeps mounting that the rookie simply isn't the same pitcher when not well-rested.

  • Cardinals' Daniel Poncedeleon: Demoted despite dominant debut

Poncedeleon was sent down to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Poncedeleon could hardly have done better in his major-league debut Monday, tossing seven no-hit innings against the Reds. He'll be sent down for Austin Gomber, who will make his first career start Tuesday. Poncedeleon's performance certainly merited a second start, but his demotion means he'll be ineligible to return for 10 days except to replace someone heading to the disabled list.

  • Phil Maton RP | CHC

Padres' Phil Maton: Picks up second hold

Maton fired a clean inning with a pair of strikeouts in Monday's 3-2 win over the Mets.

Maton was able to preserve a narrow lead in the eighth inning, picking up his second hold of the season in the process. The 25-year-old should see an uptick in hold chances following Brad Hand's trade to the Indians, sharing setup duties with Craig Stammen at least until Jose Castillo (hamstring) returns from the disabled list. Maton owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9.2 K/9 over 25.1 innings this season.
