Strop walked one while striking out one through a scoreless inning to record his third save in a 7-6 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Strop immediately walked the first batter he faced but recovered to face the minimum after forcing a double play to nail down the save. The 33-year-old returned to form after blowing his last save opportunity. Strop has three saves with a 3.52 ERA through nine appearances this season.

Pomeranz (1-2) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out five across six shutout innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Pomeranz didn't allow a baserunner until the fifth inning when he surrendered a walk and single to consecutive batters. However, he escaped the jam before repeating the same pattern again in the sixth inning. While he didn't rack up strikeouts at the same volume he had in previous outings, Pomeranz illustrated the ability to work efficiently by requiring only 87 pitchers to retire 18 batters. It was his longest outing of the season, and he'll look to build on that in his next start, likely to come Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Hicks earned the save by striking out the lone batter he faced in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Brewers.

It wasn't a typical one-out save for Hicks as he had to face reigning NL MVP Christian Yelich with the bases loaded, but Hicks managed to strike him out on five pitches. The 22-year-old is 7-for-8 in save opportunities and has a 2.61 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB through 10.1 innings.

Yates got the save against the Mariners on Wednesday, working around one hit to throw a scoreless ninth inning and close out San Diego's 1-0 victory. He didn't record a walk or a strikeout.

Yates continues to rack up saves at a torrid clip, as this was his 12th straight successfully converted opportunity to start the season. He allowed a bloop single to Daniel Vogelbach in this contest, but was able to get Domingo Santana to ground into a game-ending double play to protect the one-run lead. He's been the best closer in baseball at the outset of 2019; this latest easy effort gives him a 0.64 ERA and 0.86 WHIP to go along with a stellar 20:3 K:BB through 14 innings.

Burdi will get a second opinion on his strained right biceps tendon and flexor mass early next week, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

Early reports suggested that Burdi may be available to avoid surgery. His timeline remains unclear.

De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

De Los Santos will provide length out of Philadelphia's bullpen after Drew Anderson, who was sent to the minors in a corresponding move, was used for four innings in Tuesday's loss. The 23-year-old De Los Santos owns a 2.81 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB in three starts (16 innings) for Lehigh Valley this season.

Hoffman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.

With Kyle Freeland (finger) expected to miss just one start, Hoffman is no longer needed in the rotation following Wednesday's spot start. As such, he'll return to the minors to remain stretched out while Daniel Murphy (finger) takes his place on the active roster. The right-hander allowed four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Ponce de Leon was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Ponce de Leon struck out seven and allowed just one run in a five-inning spot start Tuesday against the Brewers, but with Michael Wacha (knee) expected to return for his next start, there was no need to keep him on the roster. Harrison Bader (hamstring) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.

Hoffman (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six as the Rockies fell 6-3 to the Nationals.

A four-run third inning did Hoffman in, but he otherwise was solid in the Coors Field spot start. He could return to Triple-A Albuquerque if Kyle Freeland (blister) misses the minimum as expected, but Hoffman would also be on schedule to take Sunday's start if the Rockies decide to replace the struggling Tyler Anderson in the rotation.

Smith didn't allow a baserunner and recorded two strikeouts in the ninth inning to secure the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win at Toronto.

Smith never allowed the ball to leave the infield Tuesday to remain a perfect 6-for-6 in save opportunities. The 29-year-old has enjoyed a dominant start to the season with a 1.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB over 8.2 innings.
