A second opinion on Burdi's strained right biceps tendon and flexor mass confirmed that he has no structural damage, but he's set to receive a third opinion soon, John Perrotto of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Burdi continues to receive fairly good news, and it appears that he'll be able to avoid surgery. Further details on his recovery timetable should become clear after he receives yet another opinion.

Clarke is believed to be the most likely candidate to replace Zack Godley in the rotation, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo announced Godley's move from the rotation to the bullpen Tuesday but has not announced a replacement. The manager will not need a fifth starter until May 7, so there's still time before a decision is finalized. Clarke, 25, is scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Reno on Wednesday and could pitch again as soon as Monday (May 6). The right-hander has an ugly 7.65 ERA over four starts for the Aces, with that figure heavily skewed by one bad outing against El Paso. Clarke doesn't have a put-away pitch and needs to keep batters off balance to be successful.

Wingenter was credited with a hold in the Padres' 4-3 win over the Braves on Wednesday, throwing a scoreless inning while recording one strikeout and no walks.

The right-hander continues to excel in the early going out of the Padres' bullpen, as this latest scoreless effort gives him a 2.51 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 18 strikeouts over 14.1 innings. With Kirby Yates dominating as San Diego's closer, Wingenter doesn't figure to see many save opportunities, but he at least looks primed to continue to provide solid ratios and high strikeout totals.

Pomeranz (1-3) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over four innings while striking out three as the Giants fell 10-3 to the Dodgers.

The southpaw was nursing a 1-0 lead through three innings, but David Freese's three-run shot in the fourth turned the game around and effectively ended Pomeranz's night. He'll carry a 4.08 ERA and 31:12 K:BB through 28.2 innings into his next start Monday, on the road against the Reds.

Hader allowed an earned run but struck out two to earn the save Tuesday against the Rockies.

Hader entered the game with one out in the ninth after Junior Guerra surrendered a run-scoring double. He served up a two-run homer to Ian Desmond but recovered to earn the save by striking out Mark Reynolds for the final out. Despite some recent struggles -- he's allowed six earned runs across his last six innings -- Hader remains the Brewers' primary closer.

Shaw tossed a scoreless inning in relief against the Brewers on Tuesday, striking out one without allowing a baserunner in Colorado's 4-3 loss.

Shaw struggled last season with a 5.93 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over 54.2 innings, and also had a rough spring training, but the right-hander is pitching well to start the 2019 regular season. With Tuesday's scoreless outing, Shaw has now yielded just two earned runs over 18 innings, giving him a 1.00 ERA in 15 games. If he can keep it up, he should continue to see steady work out of Colorado's bullpen helping set up for closer Wade Davis.

Iglesias (1-4) took the loss against the Mets on Tuesday by allowing one run on two hits while recording only one out.

Iglesias entered for the bottom of the 10th inning and was greeted with a 10-pitch at-bat from J.D. Davis, which ended in a leadoff double. The 29-year-old also factored in the decision Monday as he earned the win with two scoreless innings after entering in a tie game. The right-hander has a 3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB through 14.2 innings, and is 6-for-7 in save opportunities.

Yates allowed one hit and struck out two in the ninth inning to record the save Tuesday against the Braves.

Yates came on in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead for the Padres. Though he allowed an infield single to the first batter he faced, he struck out the next two batters to erase any danger. He continues to lead the majors in saves and has now closed out 14 of the Padres' 17 wins this season.

Pivetta is being considered for a move to the bullpen, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Pivetta was demoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after getting lit up to the tune of an 8.35 ERA in his first four starts of the season. In two turns at the Triple-A level, he has a 3.75 ERA and a 46.0 percent strikeout rate. A move to the bullpen would eliminate any need to face a lineup a third time, something he's struggled with so far (6.53 ERA). There's no guarantee the move will happen, as manager Gabe Kapler referred to the idea simply as, "something that we're discussing and brainstorming."

Ferguson played catch Tuesday to test his sore oblique, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Ferguson hit the injured list Sunday, but his absence isn't expected to be particularly lengthy. The fact that he's already throwing hints in that direction, though a clearer timeline won't emerge until Ferguson is sent out on a rehab assignment.
