Strop (neck) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Strop was sent to the 10-day injured list July 27 due to neck tightness, but he's been cleared by Chicago's medical staff to return to action. Brandon Kintzler (pectoral) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. With both Kintzler and Craig Kimbrel (knee) out of commission, the Cubs may turn to Strop in save situations until their bullpen returns to health.

Ferguson was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Ferguson was sent down to the minors Thursday, but after Alex Verdugo (oblique) landed on the injured list, he was eligible to return to the big-league club. He's had a rough go of it with the Dodgers this season, accruing a 5.88 ERA and 1.81 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 26 innings.

Jerez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

Jerez has made just two appearances this year in the majors, surrendering one run while fanning two over three innings of work. Sam Selman was optioned to Triple-A and Joe Panik was designated for assignment as the Giants promoted Jerez and Conner Menez.

Menez was officially recalled from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Tuesday's start against the Nationals.

Menez is set to join San Francisco's starting rotation after posting a 4.06 ERA and 1.50 WHIP with a 66:22 K:BB over 44.1 innings this season at Triple-A. Sam Selman was optioned and Joe Panik was designated for assignment in a series of roster moves.

Mayers was sent outright to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday after clearing waivers.

Mayers was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Sunday, but after failing to draw interest while on waivers, he'll join the Redbirds. He's posted a 4.50 ERA with nine strikeouts across 10 innings this season at Triple-A.

Brigham (1-1) took the loss in relief Monday in the second game of the Marlins' doubleheader with the Mets, surrendering three runs on five hits and striking out one over 1.2 innings.

Tasked with protecting a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh, Brigham yielded a leadoff solo shot to J.D. Davis, then recorded consecutive outs before giving up back-to-back jacks to Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso. The Marlins' bullpen pecking order has remained unsettled for much of the season and even more so after all of Sergio Romo, Nick Anderson and Trevor Richards were shipped out prior to last week's trade deadline, but Brigham didn't make a strong case Monday for earning a high-leverage role.

Peralta was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Peralta owns a mediocre 5.06 ERA in 32 innings this season. He'll make way for Kevin Gausman, who was acquired off waivers from the Braves on Monday.

Patino was named the California League's player of the week Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Patino earned the award after carrying a perfect game into the sixth inning in his most recent start July 31, ultimately covering a career-high 8.1 shutout frames while allowing three hits and no walks and striking out nine. The 19-year-old has now turned in back-to-back shutout starts, lowering his season-long ERA to 2.63 in the process. The right-hander could be in the mix for a late-season promotion to Double-A Amarillo, which remains firmly in the hunt for a spot in the Texas League playoffs.

Pomeranz tossed a scoreless sixth inning out of the bullpen in Monday's victory over the Pirates. He allowed two hits but did strike out three batters.

Pomeranz allowed runners to reach second and third base with two outs, but he was able to escape the jam by punching out his third batter of the inning. He has struck out five batters over two innings since joining the Brewers prior to the trade deadline, and now owns a 13:1 K:BB over 7.1 innings since moving to a relief role in late July while still with the Giants.

Helsley fired three scoreless innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Monday, allowing a hit and four walks while recording two strikeouts.

Helsley was just recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday for yet another big-league stint, and manager Mike Shildt put him right to work in order to preserve some of his other bullpen arms. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Helsley hasn't been ruled out by Shildt as a possible opener candidate if the Cardinals occasionally deploy a "bullpen day" strategy down the stretch. The right-hander had been serving as a starter with the Redbirds to prep for a multi-inning role in the majors akin to the one he filled Monday.
