Strop signed with the Cubs on Friday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Strop was released by the Reds on Tuesday, but he'll return to a familiar destination with the Cubs. He'll report to alternate camp initially, but he could certainly join the major-league roster at some point, especially given the Cubs' bullpen woes this season. The right-hander made four relief appearances with the Reds this year, posting a 3.86 ERA and 3.00 WHIP over 2.1 innings.

Topa was optioned to the alternate training site Friday.

The 29-year-old had his contract selected at the start of the week and made his major-league debut Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing two runs on two hits with two strikeouts and zero walks over two innings. Topa will hope to rejoin the big club later in the season.

Stanek (undisclosed) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The 29-year-old has been sidelined since the team's COVID-19 outbreak in late July, but he's now ready to rejoin the Marlins for the final month of the season. Stanek appeared in only one game before moving to the IL and allowed three runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk over one inning.

Weigel was recalled from the alternate training site to serve as the 29th man for Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

The 26-year-old will join the major-league roster for the first time in 2020 after working out at the alternate training site. Weigel had a couple brief stints in the majors last season, though he has yet to see game action. He had a 2.98 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 55:32 K:BB over 63.1 innings at Triple-A in 2019.

De Leon was called up to serve as the 29th man for Friday's doubleheader against the Pirates, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

De Leon has made three appearances for the Reds this season but has had very little success, allowing 12 runs in four innings while walking eight batters. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage work while he remains with the team.

Diaz (2-1) recorded the win in Thursday's extra-inning victory over the Yankees, walking one and striking out four over two scoreless innings of relief.

Both bullpens were shaky in the late innings -- eight of the 16 runs scored on the night came in the seventh inning or later -- but Diaz was the notable exception, blanking the Yanks in the ninth and 10th frames to set the stage for Pete Alonso's walkoff blast. The right-hander seems to have finally gotten comfortable as a Met and may be rediscovering the form he flashed in 2018 as a Mariner. Since the beginning of August, Diaz has a 1.32 ERA and massive 29:6 K:BB over 13.2 innings.

Treinen was credited with a hold Thursday against Arizona, pitching a scoreless inning and allowing one hit while also hitting a batter.

Treinen came on in the eighth inning with the Dodgers holding a three-run lead and found himself in immediate trouble, putting the first two runners on base via a single and hit batsman. However, the right-hander recovered by setting the next three hitters down in order to escape unscathed. Treinen is tied for fourth in the majors with seven holds this season and has yielded only two earned runs over 17.1 innings.

Kelly (shoulder) will face live hitters this weekend and is likely to be activated next week, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Kelly tossed a bullpen session without complications Tuesday, so he appears to be recovered from the shoulder inflammation that landed him on the injured list Aug. 10. However, he won't be able to take the mound in game action until he first serves the five-game suspension that was handed to him as a result of a dust-up with the Astros in late July.

Gsellman allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks across 1.2 innings Thursday against the Yankees. He did not record a strikeout or factor into the decision.

Gsellman needed only 10 pitches to get through the first inning, but imploded in the following frame. He walked three batters and surrendered four hits prior to being pulled with the bases loaded having already permitted four runs. This was Gsellman's fourth start of the season, though he has worked more than two innings only once. He'll take his next turn through the rotation Tuesday against the Orioles.

Singer was added to the Phillies' 60-man player pool Thursday and will report to the team's alternate training site, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Singer will join the players training at the alternate site in Allentown, Pa. The left-hander went 7-0 with a 2.34 ERA while striking out 74 batters across 61.2 innings at Double-A Reading in 2019.
