Gsellman allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks across 1.2 innings Thursday against the Yankees. He did not record a strikeout or factor into the decision.

Gsellman needed only 10 pitches to get through the first inning, but imploded in the following frame. He walked three batters and surrendered four hits prior to being pulled with the bases loaded having already permitted four runs. This was Gsellman's fourth start of the season, though he has worked more than two innings only once. He'll take his next turn through the rotation Tuesday against the Orioles.

Singer was added to the Phillies' 60-man player pool Thursday and will report to the team's alternate training site, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Singer will join the players training at the alternate site in Allentown, Pa. The left-hander went 7-0 with a 2.34 ERA while striking out 74 batters across 61.2 innings at Double-A Reading in 2019.

Bickford was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Thursday.

Bickford was the odd man out with Brandon Woodruff being reinstated from the paternity list Thursday. The righty made his lone big-league appearance Tuesday against the Tigers and did not fare well, allowing four runs on four hits in one inning.

Gallegos (1-1) was tagged with the loss in a defeat at the hands of the Reds on Wednesday, allowing an earned run on two walks and one hit over one-third of an inning. He recorded one strikeout.

Gallegos threw only eight of his 16 pitches for strikes upon entering in the bottom of the ninth with the score knotted at 3-3. An inning-opening strikeout of Jose Garcia quickly went to waste, as the right-hander surrendered a pair of walks before allowing a game-winning single to Joey Votto. It was the rarest of stumbles for Gallegos, who hadn't allowed an earned run and yielded only two hits over his previous eight appearances. Despite the hiccup, the hard-throwing 29-year-old is fully expected to continue receiving high-leverage opportunities during what remains of the regular season.

Payamps was optioned to the alternate training site Thursday.

Travis Bergen was promoted to take Payamps' spot in the bullpen. He got in just one game during this cup of coffee, giving up one earned run while striking out two in two innings.

The Braves added Vodnik to their 60-man roster pool Wednesday.

Vovdnik spent the 2019 season at Low-A Rome, starting in three of his 23 appearances and submitting a 2.94 ERA and 69:24 K:BB in 67.1 innings. He'll report to the Braves' satellite camp in Gwinnett.

Williams underwent Tommy John surgery in early August, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.

He pitched in 12 MLB games from 2018 through 2019, but never had much success. As a member of the 40-man roster, Williams would have been a bullpen option for the Nationals this summer, but now he may not be game ready until the start of the 2022 season.

Voth will start Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against Atlanta, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

He has given up 19 earned runs over his last 13.2 innings (four starts), and while the Nationals would love to upgrade his spot in the rotation, they don't have many viable alternatives. Wil Crowe, who is starting Game 2 as the 29th man, could potentially displace Voth if he impresses in his second MLB outing.

The rookie right-hander gave up four runs (two earned) while striking out two in 3.2 innings against the Marlins in his lone big-league appearance Aug. 22. He probably isn't ready to have any sort of sustained success in the big-league rotation, but the Nationals don't have many viable alternatives.

Clarke is slated to start Friday's series opener versus the Giants.

He'll be making his third start of the season after giving up three runs (two earned) and striking out 11 over nine innings between his last two outings. While the 14-23 Diamondbacks might have some incentive to give the 27-year-old an extended audition in the rotation in September, manager Torey Lovullo might have to expand his starting staff to six men to make that happen. Arizona will bring back Madison Bumgarner (back) from the injured list Saturday, and the team swapped out one starter (Robbie Ray) for another (Caleb Smith) at the trade deadline. Smith is on the COVID-19 injured list but is believed to be ready to return to action, so when that happens, Clarke or Alex Young could be moved to the bullpen if Lovullo opts to stick with a five-man rotation.
