Suero (2-0) picked up the win in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against Atlanta, striking out two in a perfect inning of relief.

He was the fourth Nats pitcher to enter the game but the first to keep the opposition off the scoreboard, leading to the win in an eventual 10-9 victory. Suero remains in a fairly low-leverage role, and while his 17:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings is strong, he has a mediocre 4.60 ERA and 1.28 WHIP plus zero saves or holds in 13 appearances.

Hudson gave up two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out one over one inning Friday, but he still recorded his seventh save of the season in the second game of a doubleheader against Atlanta.

Called in to protect a 10-7 lead, Hudson served up a two-run blast to Travis d'Arnaud before he was able to get an out, but the veteran reliever settled down afterward to escape with the save. Hudson has been taken deep five times in 14.1 innings, leading to a 6.28 ERA, but his 19:5 K:BB and 0.98 WHIP remain strong, and his spot as the Nats' closer doesn't appear to be in jeopardy.

Crowe didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Friday's doubleheader, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks over 2.1 innings. He struck out three.

The right-hander has had a rocky introduction to the majors, posting a 5:6 K:BB and serving up three homers in his first six innings to saddle him with a 7.50 ERA and 2.67 WHIP. The Nats aren't getting anything from the back of their rotation right now, but Crowe doesn't appear to be a solution to the problem.

Voth (0-5) took the loss in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against Atlanta, coughing up five runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

Ronald Acuna took him deep twice and Dansby Swanson once, and Voth has now served up 10 homers in only 28.1 innings this season. His 8.26 ERA and 1.80 WHIP are just as awful, but the Nats don't have any better rotation options right now unless they decide to start the service-time clocks on top prospects like Jackson Rutledge and Cade Cavalli. Voth's next outing is scheduled for Thursday, at home in a rematch against Atlanta.

Ginkel worked around a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning to record the save in Friday's 6-5 win over the Giants.

Ginkel, who blew a save earlier this week against the Dodgers, was awarded a second opportunity and was much better the this time around. There have been two chances for Diamondback relievers to save games in the ninth inning since Archie Bradley was traded, and both times manager Torey Lovullo opted for Ginkel.

Clarke allowed three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over three innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Friday.

This was the Clarke's third start as a fill-in for Merrill Kelly (shoulder) and the shortest of the three. Overall, he's posted a 3.75 ERA across 12 innings as a starter. The Diamondbacks appear to be preparing the recently acquired Caleb Smith (COVID-19) to join the rotation; he's scheduled to throw 70 pitches in an intrasquad game Saturday, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. By the time Arizona next needs a fifth starter, Smith would not be on normal rest, so Clarke could squeeze in another start next Wednesday at home against the Dodgers.

Iglesias tossed one scoreless inning Friday as he earned the save in Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Pirates. He allowed one hit and no walks while striking out one.

Iglesias got off to a rocky start this season, but he's been more consistent recently as he hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his past six outings. The right-hander now carries a 4.15 ERA and has converted on five of his six save chances this year.

Weigel was returned to the Braves' alternate training site following Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals.

Weigel wasn't very effective out of the bullpen during Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader as he allowed two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out zero over two-thirds of an inning. He'll now head back to alternate camp, and it's unclear whether he'll return to the major-league bullpen this year.

Castillo (lat) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Friday.

Castillo has been on the injured list with a Grade 2 lat strain since July 23, and the procedural move of transferring him to the 45-day IL will free up a spot on the 40-man roster. The southpaw could still potentially return during the 2020 campaign, but a timetable hasn't been established.

Alzolay will be recalled to start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alzolay has made one start and one relief appearance this season, allowing just a single unearned run on three hits over six innings of work, striking out eight while walking just two. It's been a much better showing than he had in his 12.1-inning debut last season, where he struggled to a 7.30 ERA and a 15.0 percent walk rate.
