Feyereisen was recalled from the alternate training site for Friday's doubleheader against the Cardinals.

The 27-year-old was last with the big-league club in mid-September and will serve as the 29th man for Friday's twin bill. Feyereisen has appeared in five games and given up six runs on four hits with a 7:5 K:BB over 8.1 innings this season.

Howard (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

The highly touted rookie recorded an unimpressive 5.92 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in his first six big-league starts before being sidelined with shoulder stiffness in mid-September. He isn't expected to be ready to start any of the Phillies' final three games, but he could make an appearance out of the bullpen.

Ponce de Leon was recalled from the Cardinals' alternate training site ahead of his start in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Brewers, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The 27-year-old will serve as the 29th man for Friday's twin bill as he makes his final start of the regular season. Ponce de Leon has a 5.74 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB over 26.2 innings this season, but he's allowed only four runs and has 18 strikeouts in his past two starts (11 innings).

Reyes was credited with his third hold in a win over the Brewers on Thursday despite allowing an earned run on two hits and a walk over one inning. He struck out two.

Reyes needed 31 pitches to record his three outs, and he left closer Andrew Miller with a thorny two-on, one-out situation when he departed in the ninth. The run that Eric Sogard, the first hitter Miller faced, drove in with his single went on Reyes' ledger, only the second earned run to be charged to the right-hander in his last eight appearances. Despite occasional control issues, Reyes has been a mostly reliable option for manager Mike Shildt, posting a 2-1 record, 3.00 ERA and an elite 12.5 K/9 over 18 innings

Gallegos was credited with his first hold of the season in a win over the Brewers on Thursday, striking out two in a perfect sixth inning.

The right-hander threw 14 of his 20 pitches for strikes on his way to his first clean outing since Sept. 6. The strong performance snapped Gallegos' three-appearance streak of allowing at least one earned run, a stretch during which he'd seen his ERA quickly balloon from 0.90 to 4.50. Gallegos' exact bullpen role if the Cardinals do make the postseason remains to be seen, as Andrew Miller appears to have settled into the primary closer role for the time being.

Suter will start Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Suter has not eclipsed three innings of work while serving as a spot starter and reliever this year, so expect a similar workload for the southpaw Friday. Josh Lindblom will take the ball for the nightcap.

Bard (4-2) picked up the win Thursday against the Giants, allowing one hit and two walks across 2.2 scoreless innings. He struck out one.

Bard entered with one out and the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth. He kept the Giants off the board through the 10th inning and ended up picking up his fourth win after the Rockies took the lead in the 11th. Overall, Bard has logged 27 strikeouts and a 3.65 ERA while notching six saves on the season.

Diaz gave up a run on two hits in the ninth inning Thursday against the Nationals but escaped with his sixth save of the season. He struck out one batter.

Diaz's streak of consecutive scoreless appearances ended at 10, but he eventually shut the door, making him 4-for-4 in save chances this month. The right-hander has a sparkling 1.80 ERA overall this season, though he lost the closer role for a while early on and it took Seth Lugo returning to the rotation for him to get it back. Diaz faces an uncertain future with the organization.

Castano was recalled by the Marlins on Thursday.

Castano was sent down Saturday, but he'll return to the majors with four days remaining in the regular season. The southpaw has worked solely as a starter in his first taste of major-league action this year. The Marlins have their rotation set for the remainder of the regular season, so Castano will likely come out of the bullpen for the remainder of 2020.

Hudson (forearm) met with head team physician Dr. George Paletta on Wednesday and will seek a second opinion and further evaluation on his injured forearm, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander was just placed on the 45-day injured list Tuesday, and he has some time to figure out his options since he won't be pitching again this regular season or postseason, if the Cardinals qualify. President of baseball operations John Mozeliak noted Wednesday that the seeking of a second opinion is simply part of the process of Hudson setting himself up as best as possible to not miss time in 2021. "Our doctors have reviewed the MRI, but you still want to do the normal consultation," Mozeliak said. "Until that happens, there are no decisions made for next steps. ... Obviously, the fact that we're ruling out the remainder of this year is saying something."
