  • Corbin Martin RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Corbin Martin: Surrenders six in short start

Martin (0-2) took the loss Tuesday against San Francisco, permitting six runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in four innings.

Martin ran into trouble against the heart of the Giants' order, allowing a bases-loaded double to Brandon Crawford in the first inning and a three-run home run to Evan Longoria in the third. This was only his second start of the season, and Martin probably won't stick around for long if he can't find a way to be more effective.

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

Reds' Lucas Sims: Notches one-out save

Sims picked up his second save of the season Tuesday against the Nationals by retiring the only batter he faced.

Sims was tasked with recording the final out of the game, and he accomplished that feat by forcing Starlin Castro to ground out. The right-hander reliever has now gone 2-for-3 in save chances this season, but this outing allowed him to get back on track following a woeful effort in his last appearance. He's given up seven runs (six earned) while posting an 11:4 K:BB across 7.2 innings of work this month.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Tallies eighth save

Diaz picked up the save Tuesday against the Rockies, striking out three batters while allowing one walk during a scoreless inning.

Diaz entered the ninth frame with the Mets holding onto a two-run lead. He came out hot, needing just three pitches to send Charlie Blackmon down on strikes. He then walked C.J. Cron before punching out his final two batters of the night, remaining perfect in save opportunities and helping the Mets snap a three-game losing streak. Across 19.1 innings this year, Diaz has compiled a 3.26 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.

  • Mets' Jordan Yamamoto: Moves to 60-day IL

Yamamoto (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

The 25-year-old landed on the 10-day IL earlier Tuesday with right shoulder soreness, and it didn't take long for him to shift to the 60-day IL. Yamamoto will be sidelined until at least late July. The Mets acquired outfielder Billy McKinney from the Brewers in a corresponding move.

  • Cubs' Craig Kimbrel: Notches 10th save

Kimbrel worked around a hit to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and earn the save in Tuesday's win over the Pirates. He struck out one.

Kimbrel continued his excellent run to begin the season, as he now has 10 saves in 12 opportunities to go along with a 0.90 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. The veteran reliever is also once again striking out batters at an incredible rate, as he has 33 whiffs through 20 innings. Kimbrel struggled the last two years in Chicago, but he's looked like his old, dominant self in 2021.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Rehab stint on tap

Graterol (forearm) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

The right-hander threw began throwing bullpen sessions last week and completed another session Tuesday. Graterol has been on the injured list for a month with right forearm soreness, and he'll likely require a couple appearances in the minors before being activated.

  • Tanner Rainey RP | DET

Nationals' Tanner Rainey: Returns to Nats

Rainey was cleared to return to the Nationals from the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday and will be evaluated by trainers before being officially activated, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

The reliever was given the green light to return to the Nationals' clubhouse Tuesday, but the club declined to officially activate him prior to Tuesday's game against the Reds. Expect a roster move in the coming days.

  • Mets' Jordan Yamamoto: Officially placed on injured list

Yamamoto was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder soreness, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

It was reported Monday that Yamamoto was expected to land on the injured list after leaving his start early on Sunday with the shoulder discomfort. With Jacob deGrom being activated ahead of his Tuesday start, Yamamoto has officially been added to the Mets' lengthy injured list. It's unclear when Yamamoto will return, not to mention whether he will do so as a reliever or starter.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

    Padres' Drew Pomeranz: Suffers setback

Manager Jayce Tingler said Tuesday that Pomeranz (lat) suffered a setback while facing live hitters over the weekend and will be shut down from throwing for about a week, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

This is tough news for the Padres, as the southpaw is a key cog out of the Friars' bullpen when healthy. San Diego will hope to have the left hander resume throwing by the beginning of June, though no timetable is set in stone at this point.

  • Jason Adam RP | SD

Cubs' Jason Adam: Designated for assignment

The Cubs designated Adam (ankle) for assignment Tuesday, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

The move comes three days after Adam underwent left ankle surgery. Adam figures to clear waivers, considering the injury and his struggles at the big-league level this season. The Cubs needed to remove him from the 40-man roster to make room for Patrick Wisdom, whom they recalled Tuesday for added infield depth.
