Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Takes loss in return

Alzolay (4-6) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk over 4.2 innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against Cleveland.

All the damage against Alzolay came on a pair of home runs by Bobby Bradley and Josh Naylor. It was his first start since June 7 after he spent two weeks on the injured list with a blister issue. The 26-year-old saw his ERA climb to 4.19 alongside a 67:17 K:BB through 61.2 innings. Alzolay is slated to face the Dodgers on the road this weekend.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Picks up 15th save

Diaz picked up the save (15) during Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against Atlanta, striking out one in a perfect seventh inning.

Diaz bounced back nicely from a shaky outing Friday against the Nationals in which he took the loss while allowing a run. The closer has enjoyed a very strong stretch dating all the way back to May 17, over which he's converted nine of 10 save opportunities, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out 19.

  • Yennsy Diaz RP | NYM

Mets' Yennsy Diaz: Quick return to majors

Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse after Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader versus Atlanta, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

The 24-year-old was optioned to Triple-A on Sunday but will quickly rejoin the Mets with Jeurys Familia (hip) landing on the injured list. Diaz has made three appearances in the majors this season and has given up two hits and two walks with five strikeouts over 4.1 scoreless innings.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

Diamondbacks' J.B. Bukauskas: Ready to face hitters

Bukauskas (elbow) will face hitters Tuesday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Bukauskas has already missed over a month with a flexor strain. He's making progress towards a return to action, though the Diamondbacks have yet to specify when that's expected to happen.

  • Mets' Robert Gsellman: Out 6-8 weeks with torn lat

Gsellman is expected to be sidelined 6-to-8 weeks with a torn right lat, Steve Gelbs of SportsNet New York reports.

The 27-year-old was placed on the injured list earlier in the day and is now facing an extended absence dur to the injury. It's unclear if Gsellman will require surgery, but he'll be unavailable until at least early August if the initial timeline holds throughout his recovery.

  • Jake Cousins RP | LAD

Brewers' Jake Cousins: Contract selected by Milwaukee

Cousins had his contract selected by the Brewers on Monday.

The right-hander will join the Brewers for his first taste of major-league action after receiving a promotion to Triple-A Nashville in late May. Cousins began the season at Double-A Biloxi and has a 2.55 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB across 17.2 innings between the two minor-league levels. Zach Godley was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Dodgers' Edwin Uceta: Optioned to Triple-A

Uceta was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Uceta hasn't shown much to get excited about in limited big-league action this season. After allowing five runs while recording five outs Sunday against the Diamondbacks, he now owns a 6.28 ERA in 14.1 innings on the year. Outfielder Zach Reks was called up in a corresponding move.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Activated for Monday's start

Alzolay (finger) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Monday versus Cleveland.

The right-hander has been on the injured list with a blister on his right middle finger for the past two weeks, but he'll rejoin the rotation Monday without requiring a rehab assignment. Alzolay has a 4.06 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 62:16 K:BB across 57.2 innings through 11 starts this season.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

Phillies' Matt Moore: Completes fourth rehab appearance

Moore (back) made his fourth rehab appearance for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, working six innings and giving up three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Moore built up to 91 pitches in his latest rehab outing, which seemingly suggests the Phillies are viewing him as a potential rotation option once he's reinstated from the injured list. Spencer Howard has delivered uneven results since taking over as the Phillies' No. 5 starter in late May, and if he falters in his next opportunity, he could be swapped out of the rotation in favor of Moore.

  • Mets' Robert Gsellman: Officially hits injured list

Gsellman (lat) landed on the injured list as expected Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The move was made retroactive to Sunday, meaning he'll be eligible to return next Wednesday. It's not yet clear if that's at all possible, however, with the Mets yet to specify how serious the strain is or when he's expected to return. Jeff McNeil (hamstring) was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
