Thompson (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Sunday's game against the Brewers, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Thompson is back with the Cubs after right shoulder inflammation sidelined him since Sept. 2. He allowed seven earned runs in his last 3.2 innings before the injury, but he was very effective before those two bad outings and boasts a 3.54 ERA in 48.1 innings this season. Thompson hasn't provided a ton of length in any of his outings this season, so he should be expected to a go only a few innings in his first start off the IL.
