Jake Reed RP | LAD
Mets' Jake Reed: Back in big leagues
Reed was recalled by the Mets on Saturday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Reed made his major-league debut for the Dodgers in July, allowing three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings of relief. He'll now get the chance to make his first appearance for his new team after being claimed off waivers in early August; Reed spent two days in the Mets' bullpen earlier in the month but didn't enter a game.

Geoff Hartlieb RP | ATH
Mets' Geoff Hartlieb: Recalled by Mets
Hartlieb was recalled by the Mets on Saturday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Hartlieb was up as the extra man for Wednesday's doubleheader but did not get into either game. He was sent back to Triple-A Syracuse following the game but is back with the team just three days later and will try to improve on his 10.29 ERA and 2.29 WHIP, numbers he's recorded in seven innings of relief.

Drew Smith RP | WAS
Mets' Drew Smith: Out with shoulder inflammation
Smith landed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Saturday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Smith has pitched well in 41.1 innings for the Mets this season, cruising to a 2.40 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, though he owes at least some of his success to an unsustainable .212 BABIP. It's not yet clear how much time he'll miss.

Jay Jackson RP | MIN
Giants' Jay Jackson: Sidelined by side effects
Jackson landed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday while dealing with the side effects of his vaccine shot, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Given the reason for the move, it's likely Jackson won't wind up missing more than a day or two. The transaction clears space for the Giants to call up Sammy Long, who will start Saturday against the Rockies.

Sam Long RP | KC
Giants' Sammy Long: Called up ahead of start
Long was recalled Saturday and will start against the Rockies.
Long hasn't been particularly good in three starts and four relief appearances at the major-league level this season, struggling to a 5.81 ERA, though his 23.5 percent strikeout rate and 7.8 percent walk rate are both perfectly fine marks. He replaces Jay Jackson, who landed on the COVID-10 injured list.

Kenley Jansen RP | DET
Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Unavailable Saturday
Jansen will not be available to pitch Saturday against the Mets, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Although Jansen threw just 19 pitches Friday, he did complete two high-leverage innings, leading manager Dave Roberts to give him a day off Saturday. With Blake Treinen, Brusdar Graterol and Justin Bruihl also resting, the Dodgers will have to look elsewhere for late-innings relief work.

Zach Pop RP | PHI
Marlins' Zach Pop: Lands on IL
The Marlins placed Pop on the 10-day injured list Saturday with right middle finger soreness, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
The righty last appeared in a game Tuesday, striking out a pair in two scoreless innings. It's unclear how long Pop will be sidelined with the sore finger, but it figures to be a fairly brief IL stint unless he's dealing with a more significant injury.
-
Jorge Guzman RP | SF
Marlins' Jorge Guzman: Recalled from minors
The Marlins recalled Guzman from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Guzman was reinstated and optioned to Triple-A on Friday after being out since the end of spring training with an elbow injury. He pitched well on his rehab assignment, posting a 3.52 ERA and 20:9 K:BB in 15.1 innings of relief. He'll join the big-league bullpen and replace Zach Pop (finger) on the 26-man roster.

Trevor Megill RP | MIL
Cubs' Trevor Megill: Rejoins Cubs
The Cubs recalled Megill from Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
The righty has struggled mightily in the big leagues this season, appearing in 12 games for the Cubs and posting a 13.50 ERA in 8.2 innings. He most recently appeared in a game Tuesday, after which he was optioned to Iowa. Megill replaces Adbert Alzolay (hamstring), who was placed on the 10-day injured list.

Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM
Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Lands on IL
The Cubs placed Alzolay on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.
The strain is considered minor, but it shortened his poor outing Friday, when he allowed six runs on five hits and a walk in 1.1 innings. It's unclear how many starts Alzolay will miss while his hamstring recovers. Trevor Megill was recalled from Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move Saturday.
