  • Joe La Sorsa RP | BOS

Pirates' Joe La Sorsa: Reporting to Triple-A Indianapolis

La Sorsa will remain in the Pittsburgh organization and will accept an assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis after going unclaimed off waivers Wednesday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

La Sorsa, who had attended Pirates camp on a minor-league deal, had an upward-mobility clause in his contract that allowed him to move on from the Pirates if another organization had claimed him off waivers and placed him on its Opening Day roster. However, after finding no suitors on the waiver wire, La Sorsa will stick around with the Pirates and likely serve as a high-leverage arm in the Indianapolis bullpen to begin the season.

  • Phillies' Orion Kerkering: Lands on IL

The Phillies placed Kerkering (hamstring) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Kerkering's move to the IL was a foregone conclusion after the righty reliever didn't make his Grapefruit League debut until last Friday while he recovered from a Grade 1 right hamstring strain. He was able to make another appearance Monday on the back fields of camp, but the Phillies presumably want to see the 24-year-old stack up a few more innings before clearing him to join the big-league bullpen. He'll likely be ready to start a rehab assignment when the minor-league season gets underway Friday, and he could be ready to return from the IL when first eligible April 7.

  • A.J. Minter RP | NYM

Mets' A.J. Minter: Heads to IL

The Mets placed Minter (lat) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Still on the mend from the left lat surgery he underwent May 12, 2025, Minter is expected to spend the next couple of weeks continuing his rehab program at the Mets' spring training facility in Florida, per MLB.com. The southpaw reliever has been facing hitters for the past few weeks, so he could get the green light to start a rehab assignment at Single-A St. Lucie shortly after the Florida State League season gets underway. Minter is expected to eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate as the final step before he makes his return from the IL.

  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Brewers' Rob Zastryzny: Out with strained shoulder

The Brewers placed Zastryzny (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Zastryzny suffered a left rhomboid strain earlier this month and will get a late start to the season. The Brewers anticipate the left-handed reliever being ready to go at some point in April.

  • Pierson Ohl RP | COL

Rockies' Pierson Ohl: Lands on 60-day injured list

The Rockies placed Ohl (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Ohl underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery in late February. If the Rockies bring him back as a reliever, he has a chance to be ready in time for the start of next season.

  • Bryan Hudson RP | CHW

Mets' Bryan Hudson: Booted off 40-man roster

The Mets designated Hudson for assignment Wednesday.

The Mets traded for Hudson at the start of camp, but he was knocked around for six runs with a 5:3 K:BB across 3.1 innings this spring. Hudson is coming off a rough 2025 campaign, but he was one of the Brewers' better relievers in 2024, so there could be interest in the big lefty on waivers.

  • Craig Yoho RP | MIL

Brewers' Craig Yoho: Shelved with calf strain

The Brewers placed Yoho (calf) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Yoho came down with a right calf strain in mid-March. The Brewers do not expect Yoho to be sidelined long and are targeting mid-April for his return to action.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Takes another step forward

Phillips (elbow) threw a bullpen session to a squatting catcher March 17, per MLB.com.

Phillips had previously been throwing only to a standing catcher, so this was a notable step forward in his recovery from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last June. The righty reliever is beginning the season on the 60-day injured list and is expected to miss most of the season, though he could be ready for game action sometime in the second half.

  • Caleb Kilian RP | SF

    Giants' Caleb Kilian: Contract selected

The Giants selected Kilian's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Kilian won a bullpen job as a non-roster invitee after yielding just one run with an 11:2 K:BB over 9.1 innings during Cactus League play. The 28-year-old is likely to operate in middle relief initially, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he pushes for a more high-profile role as part of a Giants bullpen that's in flux.

  • Giants' Michael Fulmer: Fails to make Opening Day roster

The Giants reassigned Fulmer to minor-league camp Wednesday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Fulmer joined the Giants as a non-roster invitee in February, and he had a solid showing during spring training with five earned runs allowed and a 16:4 K:BB over 10.1 innings. He made just three regular-season appearances between the Cubs and Red Sox last season after missing all of 2024 due to UCL revision surgery.
