  • JoJo Romero RP | STL

Cardinals' JoJo Romero: Headed to Cardinals

Romero was traded from the Phillies to the Cardinals on Saturday in exchange for Edmundo Sosa.

Romero was sent down by the Phillies last weekend and will remain at the Triple-A level following Sunday's trade. The southpaw spent the start of the season recovering from Tommy John surgery and has tossed four scoreless innings over five relief appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this year.

  • Daniel Bard RP | COL

Rockies' Daniel Bard: Inks two-year extension

Bard signed a two-year, $19 million contract extension with the Rockies on Saturday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Bard drew significant interest from other teams ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline and was considered one of the best relievers on the market, but he'll ultimately remain in Colorado for an additional two years. The 37-year-old has been productive in 2022 despite pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field, converting 21 of 23 save chances with a 1.91 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 37.2 innings over 37 appearances.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Dodgers' Chris Martin: Traded to Dodgers

Martin was traded from the Cubs to the Dodgers on Saturday in exchange for Zach McKinstry, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.

Martin joined the Cubs on a one-year deal during the offseason but will provide bullpen assistance for the Dodgers over the second half of the year. The right-hander has struggled over his last five outings, recording a 9.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP in five innings. However, he's logged a 3.29 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 13.2 innings since June 17 and will attempt to rediscover his success with his new team. Martin picked up six holds with the Cubs to begin the season but is likely to serve mainly as a middle reliever for the Dodgers.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Braves' Kenley Jansen: Secures 24th save

Jansen earned the save with a scoreless ninth inning during Friday's 5-2 win against Arizona. He allowed one hit with three strikeouts and two walks.

The veteran right-hander surrendered a leadoff triple, struck out the next two batters and then issued two walks before striking out Jordan Luplow to end the game. It certainly wasn't a clean appearance, but Jansen still got the job done to record his 24th save, which ranks third in the majors. Since returning from the injured list in mid-July, he's given up two earned runs on five hits with a 6:2 K:BB over 5.2 innings while going 4-for-4 in save opportunities.

  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Brewers' Josh Hader: Notches 29th save

Hader allowed one hit and struck out three batters in a scoreless ninth inning to earn his league-leading 29th save in Friday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox. He did not walk a batter.

The left-hander threw only 12 of 22 pitches for strikes, and the only blemish against him was a one-out single from Bobby Dalbec. Hader gave up 12 runs over his last six outings prior to the All-Star break, though he's been better since the intermission with one run allowed and a 7:1 K:BB across four frames. He doesn't appear to be fully back to his dominant early-season form but is trending in the right direction.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Picks up 12th hold

Phillips earned a hold against the Rockies on Friday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work.

Julio Urias gave the Dodgers seven strong innings, and Phillips was summoned in the eighth as the bridge to closer Craig Kimbrel. Phillips struck out Ryan McMahon and Connor Joe to begin the frame before getting Brian Serven to pop out. The righty reliever has been impressive again in July, allowing just one run and three hits over 10 innings while posting a 12:3 K:BB. He's earned three wins, a save and five holds across his 11 appearances this month.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Collects fifth win

Dominguez (5-3) picked up the win in Friday's 4-2 extra-inning victory over the Pirates, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

The right-hander got the call on the road in a 2-2 game and set down the Pirates in order, then got rewarded when Rhys Hoskins launched a game-winning blast in the top of the 10th. Since becoming part of the team's closer committee in mid-June, Dominguez has a 1.42 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through 12.2 innings while going 6-for-6 in converting save chances.

  • Connor Brogdon RP | CLE

Phillies' Connor Brogdon: Notches first save of 2022

Brogdon struck out one in a perfect 10th inning Friday to record his first save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Pirates.

Brad Hand worked the seventh inning and Seranthony Dominguez the ninth, leaving Brogdon to protect the lead the Phillies claimed in the top of the 10th. The right-hander didn't disappoint and needed only eight pitches (seven strikes) to breeze through the top of the Pirates' order. Brogdon has been one of the most reliable arms in the Philadelphia bullpen of late despite spending time on the COVID-19 list, posting a 1.42 ERA, 0.55 WHIP and 12:0 K:BB through 12.2 innings since the beginning of June with two wins and three holds, in addition to Friday's save.

  • Dodgers' Craig Kimbrel: Picks up save in shaky performance

Kimbrel gave up two earned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one over one inning to earn the save in a 5-4 victory over the Rockies on Friday.

Kimbrel was called in to protect a three-run lead on the road at Coors Field in the ninth, and he nearly blew the save after giving up two runs on a bases-loaded single to Randal Grichuk. The final out of the inning came on a nice running catch in foul territory by Trayce Thompson. Despite the shaky performance, Kimbrel picked up his 18th save of the season. Kimbrel hasn't been a lock-down bullpen arm this season, and the veteran closer's ERA has now risen to 4.37. On a positive note, the runs were his first allowed over his last seven outings.

  • Cubs' David Robertson: Struggles in non-save situation

Robertson allowed two runs on three hits across an inning of relief in Friday's 4-2 win over the Giants. He struck out one.

This was Robertson's first time allowing multiple earned runs in an outing since May 7, and it raised his season ERA from 1.83 to 2.23. That's still a very solid figure, and the 37-year-old remains a likely candidate to be traded before Tuesday's deadline, due to his steady performance and expiring contract. Robertson has been the closer for the Cubs with 14 saves this year, though a trade may shift him into a setup role in a more established bullpen, which would obviously lower his fantasy value.
