Jay Jackson RP | MIN
Braves' Jay Jackson: Called up for matinee
Atlanta recalled Jackson from Triple-A Gwinnett prior to Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
He'll be joining the big-league bullpen for the first time this season after opening the campaign on the 60-day injured list before being optioned to Gwinnett on July 2 when he was activated. Jackson posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB in 10 innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A prior to his promotion.

Wil Crowe RP | PIT
Pirates' Wil Crowe: Picks up third save
Crowe struck out the side and surrendered a hit in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Tuesday against the Brewers.
Crowe was called upon to protect a two-run lead and worked around a one-out single to tally his third save of the season. With David Bednar (back) unavailable, the closer role could be up for grabs in the short term in Pittsburgh. While Yerry De Los Santos once appeared to be next in line for save chances, Crowe followed him into the game Tuesday. Crowe has quietly had a strong season, maintaining a 3.16 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 56:24 K:BB across 57 frames.

Bryse Wilson RP | PHI
Pirates' Bryse Wilson: Allows three runs in outing
Wilson did not factor into the decision against the Brewers on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out two and walking one over 5.1 innings.
All of Wilson's three runs allowed came on solo shots in the top of sixth inning. The Pirates' offense would come roaring back in the bottom of the inning to help Wilson avoid the loss. He threw 54 of 80 pitches for strikes and has now allowed at least one run in each of his appearances since May 10. He's allowed fewer than six hits just once in that span as well, but he's also issued just 10 walks in the sample. Wilson has decreased his ERA, which now sits at 6.20, in each of his appearances since June 14.

Alexis Diaz RP | TEX
Reds' Alexis Diaz: Notches fourth save
Diaz struck out one in two-thirds of an inning without allowing a run to record his fourth save of the season in a 2-1 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.
Hunter Strickland got the save the night before but gave up a run doing it, so Diaz got the call Tuesday after Graham Ashcraft served up a one-out double in the ninth. Diaz has been tagged for only one earned run in his last 12 appearances, posting a 0.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB through 10.2 innings over that stretch. Edwin's little brother could wrest the closer role away from Strickland down the stretch if he continues outperforming him.

Josh Hader RP | HOU
Padres' Josh Hader: Nabs win in Friars debut
Hader (2-4) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Acquired from Milwaukee on Monday, Hader entered a 2-2 game and breezed through the bottom of the Colorado order before fellow ex-Brewer Trent Grisham walked it off with a solo shot. Hader had some uncharacteristic stumbles before the All-Star break, but in five appearances since he's allowed only one run in five innings with an 8:1 K:BB, and he should provide the Padres with some stability in the closer role.

Reiss Knehr RP | SD
Padres' Reiss Knehr: Short stint in spot start
Knehr didn't factor into the decision in a 3-2 win over the Rockies during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one and also hit two batters with pitches.
Making his first big-league start of the year, Knehr needed 82 pitches (48 strikes) to record only 11 outs before getting the hook, and his line could have been a lot worse as he exited with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the fourth inning. Fortunately for the Padres, none of those runners came around to score. Knehr will likely head back to Triple-A El Paso with a 1.50 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB through 12 MLB innings.

Cory Abbott RP | SEA
Nationals' Cory Abbott: Pitches well in first start
Abbott did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Mets, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three and walking two over five innings.
Abbott was called upon to start for a thin Nationals rotation and rose to the occasion, throwing 51 of 76 pitches for strikes across five frames. It was his fourth appearance of the season and his first as a starter. He pitched sporadically in relief twice in July and once in June. The righty has allowed just one earned run across nine innings this season for the Nats, and will take a 1.00 ERA into his next appearance.

Tyler Beede RP | CHC
Pirates' Tyler Beede: Starting Wednesday
Beede will start Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The right-hander has worked exclusively out of the bullpen for the Giants and Pirates this year, but he'll step into the rotation Wednesday after Pittsburgh traded away Jose Quintana. Beede covered three innings during his last appearance Sunday, so he shouldn't be expected to have a full starting workload. It's unclear if Pittsburgh plans to keep him in the rotation or if he'll shift back to the bullpen after Wednesday's outing.

Nick Nelson RP | PHI
Phillies' Nick Nelson: Opens in loss
Nelson (3-2) took the loss Tuesday in Atlanta, allowing two runs on two hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out three in two innings.
Nelson opened for the second time this season and held Atlanta scoreless through the first two innings. In the third, he hit Michael Harris and walked Ronald Acuna and was promptly removed. The 26-year-old had allowed only two runs while striking out 17 in 14.2 innings before Tuesday's loss. He'll likely return to a middle-relief role for his next appearance.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Pirates' David Bednar: Back issue resurfaces
Manager Derek Shelton said Bednar was unavailable during Tuesday's win over the Brewers due to a lower-back injury, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Bednar missed some time with the back issue a month ago and was able to avoid the injured list, and it remains to be seen if he'll require a trip to the shelf this time around. In his absence, Wil Crowe picked up save Tuesday, and Yerry De Los Santos could also be in the mix for saves should Bednar be forced to miss additional time.
