The Nationals activated Garcia ahead of Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.

Garcia, whom the Nationals claimed off waivers from the Marlins on Tuesday, had been pitching at Triple-A Jacksonville, but Washington will immediately take a look at him at the big-league level. He previously made his MLB debut with Miami earlier in the season but has otherwise made 31 of his 32 appearances at Jacksonville, where he's accrued a 2.85 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 62:22 K:BB across 41 innings.

Martinez will start Wednesday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field after Joe Musgrove was scratched due to "minor" right shoulder soreness, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Martinez was part of the Padres' Opening Day rotation and has made four starts this season, but he's worked out of the bullpen exclusively since late April and made one-inning appearances Sunday and Monday. As such, Martinez won't be especially well rested ahead of the spot start, and the Padres may end up treating the series finale in Colorado as more of a bullpen day. San Diego could call up another pitcher from the minors to provide length behind Martinez, but no such transaction has been announced yet.

Hudson will start Wednesday's game against the Twins at Busch Stadium.

Hudson and Matthew Liberatore will slot into the rotation this week after St. Louis sent out starters Jordan Montgomery and Jack Flaherty to the Rangers and Orioles, respectively, prior to Tuesday's trade deadline. Though all but one of his seven appearances with the Cardinals this season have come in a bullpen role, Hudson should be able to provide a decent amount of length in his return to the rotation Wednesday after he covered 4.1 innings and tossed 93 pitches in relief in his most recent appearance last Thursday against the Cubs. Hudson holds a 4.19 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 19.1 innings in the big leagues on the season.

Atlanta placed Hernandez on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right forearm inflammation.

Hernandez's move to the IL clears a spot on the 26-man active roster for left-hander Brad Hand, whom Atlanta acquired from Colorado on Tuesday. After receiving his first call-up to the big leagues July 23, Hernandez gave up three earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six over 3.2 innings across his four relief appearances for Atlanta before hitting the shelf.

Adams was removed from Tuesday's game with a right ankle injury, MLB.com reports.

Adams entered to pitch the eighth inning but was removed two pitches into the outing after Joc Pederson smashed a comebacker off his right ankle. The right-hander was helped off the field and was still being evaluated following the game.

Bednar picked up the save Tuesday against the Tigers, striking out two in a clean ninth inning.

While there was some talk Bednar could be moved at the trade deadline, the 28-year-old Pittsburgh native remained with the Pirates. Bednar hasn't blown a save since April 11 -- he's now 22-for-23 in save opportunities with a 1.24 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 56:13 K:BB across 43.2 innings this season.

Dominguez picked up the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins, striking out one over a scoreless inning.

After the Phillies rallied to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning, Dominguez was called upon to protect a two-run lead with Craig Kimbrel unavailable. He'd send the top of Miami's lineup down in order, earning his first save of the year. It was certainly a positive outing from Dominguez, who'd pitched to a 14.73 ERA over his previous five outings. Overall, Dominguez sports a 4.60 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB across 29.1 innings this season.

Robertson (4-3) blew the save and took the loss Tuesday against the Phillies. He allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while striking out one in an inning of work.

It was a brutal night for Robertson in his second appearance with Miami. Bryce Harper tied the game 1-1 with an RBI double before Robertson surrendered a two-run homer to Nick Castellanos that would prove to be the game-winning hit. The Marlins will hope this was an anomaly in what's been an otherwise excellent year for the 38-year-old Robertson. Overall, Robertson's ERA sits at 2.54 with a 1.02 WHIP and 50:14 K:BB across 46 innings this season, and he's gone 15-for-19 in save opportunities.

Lambert (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Padres. He struck out two.

Lambert entered Tuesday's start not having allowed a single earned run over his last 15 innings, and he'd surrendered just one run when he was pulled from the contest. However, he left the bases loaded when he exited the game and all three runners eventually came around to score, saddling him with a fairly busy line. With four starts under his belt, Lambert owns a 1.96 ERA and a 9:5 K:BB through 18.1 innings as part of the Rockies' rotation. He's tentatively scheduled to make another start in Milwaukee early next week.

Walker (4-0) allowed two hits over 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Diamondbacks. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

After three straight bullpen games, including one in which Walker was the opener (Saturday), he was able to spare his fellow relievers with a strong outing. He's given up just two runs over his last 15.1 innings while posting a 14:1 K:BB in that span. Walker is at a 2.35 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB through 38.1 innings over 26 appearances (seven starts) this season. He'll likely continue to be an option to open bullpen games going forward, which drastically limits his ability to collect wins.
